They may be abandoning capacitive touch but I'm not sure that relates to whether this is an upgrade to the Aura or Glo. After all, neither of the other Auras had capactive touch. Design wise, the Glo HD is more similar to the Glo, I guess they decided it works better but I'm not even sure that's it. Surely the main problem with the Aura name was more that they had no good path forward. Glo HD is a simple name that works. Aura HD was already taken.

Anyway looking at this and the Canadian price, don't think I'll be purchasing an ebook reader for at least a few weeks (was looking for a birthday present, decided the PW with $20 discount wasn't worth it compared to to buying it locally, but now I think this is a good option).

Actually the Aura does have capacitive touch. The Aura HD and the Aura H2o
use infrared.

Sorry I should have explained better. When I said neither of the others I meant neither of the other two Auras, which are the Aura HD and Aura H20 had capacitive touch. I meant this in the context of the thread, where it had been suggested that because the Glo HD was called the Glo HD rather than something in the Aura line meant they were abandoning the capacitive touch screen which it had been mentioned or at least strongly implied was present in the Aura. I wasn't intending to challenge the presence of the capacitive touch screen in the Aura itself. (I did mention they were apparently abandoning capacitive touch, unfortunately I failed to mention as present in the Aura although I believe it's the only Kobo ereader to have capacitive touch.) Rather, my point was that capacitive touch was not a definining feature of the Aura line, therefore there's no reason why they couldn't have called it the Aura whatever but without it having a capacitive touch.

In reality, IMO the reason why it's called the Glo HD has little to do with any features or design, and probably little to do with any reputational issues surrounding the Aura, or the rest of the Aura line, but more to do with the fact the Glo HD name worked well, whereas there was no such simple name for the Aura.
