The Glo update is for Mark 4 hardware which includes the Aura HD. Alternately, you can use the KoboRoot.tgz file from the Mark 5 update file which is what I did on one Aura HD. From what I've seen in other posts, the beta testers are supplied with the same KoboRoot.tgz file for any device from the Touch to the Aura H2O.

Like DNSB said, I used the Glo version :-)

And chalk me up too for a great HOORAY!! for the new "non-sticky" bottom menus. Those always annoyed the hell out of me.

Just not sure if I can install this firmware on my Aura. I know it says Glo and AuraH2O only but on the firmware page it now says:

Does this mean I can safely install 3.13.1 on my Aura?
The Firmware page tends to only list the devices that the firmware is officially released to. When people post that it works on other devices, I tend to add those to that firmware's listing somehow.

As always, read the firmware's discussion thread, which will give you, by far, the best indication of the scope of the firmware.

Do I get a prize for most uses of 'firmware' in a post?

So are you saying that released firmware can be used on other devices where the firmware is not released for it? Do you have to play with the firmware to get it to work? Does every device get a working firmware? Can we run say Mark 4 firmware on a Mini?

The beta testing hasn't worked like that for a while. The downloading and installation is done in the same way as for release firmware so we get the appropriate package for the device.

This has been discussed a lot. Each time new firmware is released, the people with the devices that it isn't released for ask the question. So far the answer is always yes. Well, there have been a couple of "yes, but" answers. These have always been small UI layout issues and I'm pretty sure the Mini was always the device with the problems.

My vote goes the other way. When reading a kepub, having the in-book stats a single tap away was good. And for an epub, I could see the chapter name by having the navigation pane come up.

My post was not serious at all. It was in response to the use of the word "firmware". I wasn't thinking it would actually get a serious reply.

I see what you were doing. Probably not a great way to use firmware a lot of times as it read like a real question about the firmware and how the different devices get new firmware. Or don't get new firmware. After all, this is a serious thread about the latest firmware and whether we should use that firmware on the devices the firmware was not released for.

No, the real question is, how many times do I need to same "firmware" in a row for new firmware to appear?

I must have missed the change. When did it happen?

A while ago. 2.8 comes to mind as either the last of the old way or the first of the new.

I've been using the full screen mode, so chapter/book progress isn't shown. Having them one tap away was a nice feature. Oh well, one step forward, two steps back.

PDF Zoom?

Now they found a new way to break PDF:

PDF zoom on smaller pages is bigger, but it says it is the same percentage. Do they now calculate by what the zoom would be for fit the full page and then scale it by the same magnification?

I expect the same dpi for all pages if I once have set the zoom.
I have to go back to 3.12 because this is not usable.

I haven't tested but by your description this seems an old known issue. Pdf reference size is locked to the first page. So if your PDF contains different sizes you are going to get either cropped pages or wasted blank areas. 3.12 is not different in any way.

Yes, crop was always broken, but now they actually scale the page!

That means that the letter size is different if the page size is different
