Scribd adds Audiobooks to its Plan

I put in a 32 GB SD card in mine, but if most can't be put on it, there wasn't much point in it. I didn't know that though. But since I don't keep a million songs on my device, or a bunch of books, I should be ok with the available device space. I think its 5.3 or some thing out of 8.

So it might be a good idea to look for android phones with internal storage.

Not sure what I am going to put on my SD card. Could have gotten a smaller one. . I try to move any apps that allow it over just in case.

External storage is only useful any more for tons of media files (movies, music, pictures). Eventually I plan on putting all my pictures on my external sd card. But for that to happen I would need a 128gb card - too pricy for me at the moment.

ETA - a better phone, probably is the Moto G, which I see here for $75. But I didn't want to pay that much, at this time. I'm sure it has a newer version of Android, but it doesn't say.

I found this and it runs KitKat but only 1.3GB available storage. Still it would work for me. Anyone want to buy it for my birthday?

I'm very impressed with the large selection of audiobook titles, and have started listening to my first Scribd audiobook download.

Although I'm less than impressed with the ebook app offered by Scribd, the addition of tens of thousands of audiobooks makes my subscription worthwhile even if I never read another Scribd book, as there are certainly many audiobooks I plan to listen to over the next few months. This is a very nice feature, at least for those of us that enjoy audiobooks.

Have they updated the Scribd app yet for it? I checked last night and it was still not 3.8. Once it's 3.8 it should be easy to listen to Audiobooks. Scribd is available for download directly from Scribd's site.

Never mind, I found it. It's 3.7.1 but when I check for updates it says there aren't any.

Yeah they haven't updated it yet but I just talk to our Allison girl (She is awesome and always on the ball) and they are having alot of problems with Gingerbread so that is probably why it hasn't been updated yet. They had me send a log from my tablet. Fingers crossed that it helps them identify the problem. She said it's something happening on Blackstone Audio's end.

I am going to side load 3.8 to my older fire 8.9 to see. Should work fine I assume.

Doesn't seem to work. I can see the tab and click on it for audiobooks, but I can't select anything there is nothing there and it keeps telling me unable to retrieve categories etc.

It also keeps telling me to check my internet connection, which is on and fine.

I don't know what this version of fire is running, its the 2012 8.9 Hd model. So not ready for fires yet. At least not my old one.
I am sure they'll fix it soon though.

eta: To add, I can see the audiobooks that I already added in my library and it opens the player, but when I try to play it says problems with playback do you want to try again and if I try to download, it tells me about my connection again.
Those are the only audiobooks I can see, the ones already in my library, but I cant play them.

Give it a shot. Needless to say it wont work yet on the original Kindle Fire 7 as it runs Gingerbread.

Happy to hear it. It doesn't work on the KFv1 yet. Support says Gingerbread is crashing the app. They are looking into it. I just sent them my log.

You are right, it doesn't work. I can't even open books with that version on my fire.
I was just going to try this. I just learned how to extract apk's from my phone.

Send support a email from the app right after the errors. It will send them a log so they can look right into the problem.

This is the instructions they sent me:

Open the Scribd app, and try to play an audiobook.
When the app crashes, reopen it right away, and go to "My Profile".
From "My Profile", tap on the little gear icon in the top right corner of the screen - this is the "Settings" Page.
From the "Settings" page, click on "FAQ & Support". On the next page, "Email Customer Support"
