I've been using the H2O for a little over a week now and am quite happy with it. The screen is near perfect with very uniform lighting and a nice color. Not too yellow or too blue, just creamy white. Battery life seems at least as good as my PW2 if not better. Ordering from Chapters couldn't have gone any smoother and delivery was 2 business days.

Thanks sharphamster! How was Greenlight Books to deal with? Did they send you the first HD directly or did it still come from Kobo? And do I understand correctly that when you had problems you ended up dealing directly with Kobo rather than Greenlight Books?

Is there an advantage to ordering from an indie bookseller like Greenlight rather than Kobo or vice versa?

Greenlight was great - fast with the shipping, and quick with responses to email. Fully recommend them.

When I decided on an HD I first tried the Kobo site and ran into problems. They charged my card 3x, and at that point my cc company contacted me and said they had frozen the card and canceled the numbers, as whichever card transaction service Kobo used was not secure.

I went with Greenlight a few days later based on a recommendation from a MR user, and I had my HD very soon after that. I was also happy to be able to support an indie store, and had Kobo tie my old account to Greenlight so they received a cut from my future epub purchases.

And I did deal directly w/ Kobo when my HD controller went bad, and the third party purchase was not an issue getting a replacement. There was a mix-up with the first replacement - I was sent a 6" Aura rather than the HD - but that was rectified fairly shortly.

I'm even more pleased with the speed and ease of my Chapter's ordered H20. Two day shipping from Canada was a complete surprise.

Finally have my H2O. Thankfully everything is working as it should. Screen is a little warmer than I would like but I'm hoping it will grow on me. I'm just glad it's finally here!

Thanks, sparkle! I'm starting to get user to the warmer screen tone. Coming from a PW1, it's so nice to have a blotch-free screen this time Next up is learning how to patch the H2O to reduce the header & footer margins (although I actually sort of like seeing them, just wish they could be a little higher/lower to make room for more lines of book per page)

I just ordered a Kobo Aura from the Kobo store. What was interesting is that the order wouldn't process on my iPad. Their help line advised me to use a google chrome or Mozilla browser. I used my Mac Book Air and the order went thru.
FYI I was able to get $40 off the $139 price using discount code JUSTFORYOU.

Can you please tell me what the box looks like when the H2O is ordered from Chapters? Is it obvious on the outside of the box that there's an ereader inside?

My experience with Kobo website:
I ordered my Kobo Aura H2O from the Kobo website. I ordered it on a Wednesday, November 5th and received it the following Tuesday via Fedex. I also made a seperate order for the Sleep Cover from the same site on the same day and it arrived the following Friday via the USPS. I received no shipping confirmation or tracking information from Kobo for either order.

I really like it. It looks nice, is very light, and works perfectly with regard to sleep/wake. It folds back completely easily, the inside cover is nice and soft. I have always liked the clip in style best, and this one is snug--the Kobo is not going anywhere once it's in; I bought this with the thought that I'd eventually replace it if it wasn't perfect, but i see no need to.

I don't like covers with a visible magnet (the two parallel line effect), the magnet is invisible on the sleep cover--there is nothing distracting about the cover whatsoever.

As for shipping, I never go a notification, which I expected. I ordered mine on a Friday, I received it the following Thursday.

Just started the exchange process on my H20 through Kobo for a hardware issue, and it took all of 5 minutes on the phone (800 368-5390) to get it started. Will update the time frame if anyone is interested.

For those ordering from Chapters outside of Canada, be aware that they won't do an online exchange, regardless of what the site/receipt says. I was advised to mail my H20 to 'someone in Canada' and have them walk it to a B&M store. Really?

Man, I hate Mondays.

Happy you like, xtine! Love the screen so much, and the warm tone of the light is like reading under an incandescent lamp to my eyes.

I'm used to that Kobo big header now, though I do go to 0 on the margins, since it looks 'book-like' to me. There should be an option in the Reading settings to get rid of the giant Header/Footer in FW 3.11, which may work for you.

Wow, that's rather shocking regarding Chapters. So sorry. Hope all goes smoothly with the return via Kobo.
