Amazon being down is not so much an issue as if Fictionwise & BooksOnBoard were both down. Of course, if Sony's eBook shop was down, I would not be upset as long as it was a temp outage.

What is feedbooks?

I'm all about free or cheap ebooks for my Kindle as long as it's all legal. I'm totally against theft of copywritten material.

Feedbooks.com has Public Domain and Creative Commons books that are nicely formatted for the Kindle and other devices. For Kindle, they have a lovely download guide. It's a document full of links to the books. Click on the link and it downloads over wireless to the Kindle. Free and legal.

The site was down for about two hours on Friday. Amazon.com Inc. blamed that outage on system issues.

Amazon officials did not immediately return a phone call Monday.

Keynote Systems Inc., a California-based company that measures Web site performance, would only say it was monitoring the "fluid situation" at Amazon.

If you like free, you'll love FeedBooks. Lots of stuff and they have set it up so that you can browse from the Kindle. Neat-o site.
