I seem to be the outlier here; I find the eink flicker to be very disconcerting. So much so that after I traded in my second generation Sony (my first ereader) for a Samsung Android tablet I’ve never looked back. My wife has a Kindle 2, and I occasionally have to help her with it, and I hate it!
My Nook HD+ recently started randomly rebooting, so I switched to my Windows 8.1 Samsung Tablet, and I’m thinking that I’ll never go back to Android either. I don’t find the short battery life to be a problem, as I have to sleep sometime. It’s not a burden to just plug it in before bed. |

I don't even notice the refresh flicker. I think I maybe noticed it for the first few hours I used my first ereader, but that's it.

I don't have a problem with the lag at all, I hardly notice it and it's quicker than a page turn of a pbook and less hassle.
I've recently been reading more pbooks, especially in bed, where I read a lot so I can sleep. It's much more of a faff turning pages with a pbook, holding the book up with the pages open etc laying in bed than it is compared to an ereader where I can just tap the screen. That and the ereader is backlit as well, so less disturbing for my wife. |

Since you own the Kobo Glo, I believe you mean frontlit. ![]() I don't even notice a lag. In fact, I don't think there is a lag. With my Kobo Aura HD and Kindle Paperwhite II, everything seems instantaneous. I, too, enjoy reading in bed, since my fontlit ebook readers are very unobtrusive to my snoring wife. ![]() |

I don't notice lag with my Aura with epubs, but pdfs are a whole different story. (I try to avoid them wherever possible!)
