I'm glad he knows more about writing a good story than about modern word processing.
He obviously does not realize how silly his notions on the topic are.

What's silly about having a comfortable workflow, free of distractions which is robust and inexpensive to maintain / duplicate?

Nothing. What's silly is talking about it all the time ... and feeling the need to justify it.

Mr Martin needs to learn when to end a story. I got fed up of Game of Thrones being overly dragged out somewhere in season two.

Thus speaks the best-selling author... and the one who blames a writer of books for the TV treatment of his works... books don't come in seasons, they come in volumes...

I gave up in the break between books four and five. It was already starting to go off the rails at that point; regardless of the ridiculous wait that followed. Series came down with a terminal case of the Sprawls.

Don't they say the same thing about The Wheel of Time?

Does it make me a bad person if I want GRRM to give up the ghost already so Brandon Sanderson can take over?

Someone should give GRRM Scrivener for Christmas.

Or maybe for a birthday.

Or July 4th. Whichever comes first.

Reminds me of Gary Larson. "So YOU'RE the 'they' in 'That's what they say!' "

Wordstar was always my favorite PC environment word processor. I'm sure his computer was upgraded enough to using a flashdrive OR he has a floppy conversion system on his other machine. Hey, it works for him if he gets the darn books out!! My Mom is 80 and she wants to read those books, so he had better get a move on them.

You mean like ten years ago?

Neal Stephenson wrote the entire Baroque Cycle with a fountain pen, supposedly to prevent him from being too long-winded. It ended up being his largest work so far. I guess it didn't quite worked https://www2.mobileread.com/i/smiliesadd1/chin_scratch.gif
