Your copyright was Life+50 but was changed to match that of the USA as part of the Aus-USA trade agreement finalised a few years back.

US copyright is very complex, I wrote a sticky on it and Canadian copyright law.

Australia was Life + 50 until the US free trade treaty where is was changed to life +70 for works entering the Public Domain after 2005. US is basically forever...(As long as politicians take bribes...)

Don't see that happening any time soon.

It might also stop if there was a huge uprising of the public upset enough that it would endanger the politicians being reelected. But that's not terribly likely either.
