I've always just been a fast reader. I've been reading ever since I can remember. I remember that in 5th grade, there was a program where you could order paperbacks, pretty cheaply, from some little newsletter type thing. I ordered several, including Sherlock Holmes. I couldn't order all I wanted, because of lack of money.
Now I read almost exclusively mysteries and science fiction. Thanks to Amazon and Baen, I don't have much trouble finding new things to read. |

I'm mostly ereader/iPad, with the exception of library-borrowed treebooks, art books, and a few gifts.

It depends. My dad often gets Barnes & Noble gift cards from people as small gifts for his work, and sometimes I get them in surveys. I don't get out of the house much, so I use the opportunity and buy paper books then.
Otherwise I'm all digital. For the most part, the books I buy at B&N are going to cost the same as the digital copy anyway, even through Amazon. |

Only ebooks for four years now since I bought my first ereader.
The only time I read paper books now (except for work) is when I am proof reading the books I am converting to digital as they are unavailable in ebook form. I am only keeping a few precious sentimental favourites in paper and the rest have gone or are waiting to be scanned. If someone had told me ten years ago that I would one day walk past a bookshop without even bothering to look in the window, or be tractor-beamed in, I would have roared with laughter. ![]() I actively dislike reading paper now. |

Prefer ebooks, if I can get them.
Will only read printed books as a second choice if the corresponding ebook is not available - such as from a library. But I'm not a purist - if someone happens to lend me a printed book I want to read I won't turn it down. |

I have nothing against pbooks but since most of my reading time is done on the train I tend to choose a new ebook when I've finished the previous book. Which is a shame because I have a whole bookshelf of very good books that need to be read.

I know when I first started I wasn't sure if I'd like reading on an e-reader. Didn't take me too long to realize that I like it a lot better than reading real books. I'm at the point now where I don't think I've read a paperback book in quite some time. My biggest concern now is trying to figure out what to do with that very large collection of books I have. I need to get rid of them, but there's a part of me that just cringes on how little value they have compared to what was spent on them.

Since I purchased my sony 2 years ago, I haven't read a paper book. Last month somebody gave me a paperback as a present - it's a book I want to read, but I'm not looking forward to reading it on paper.
I don't know if it's just me, but I really rediscovered the fun in reading since I went digital. I read many more books on my reader than I ever did on paper. My Sony is bugging me though, regularly freezing and crashing, skipping two pages at a time... but I'm getting the prs-t3 for my birthday this summer, so hurray :-) |

Since I got my first ereader in 2010 I've only read one paper book. It was my intention to move completely to ebooks when I bought the device. I only read the one paper book last year because I couldn't obtain the book in ebook format and I was sick of waiting for it to become available.
I had to give up physical books for the sake of my apartment. Is already filled up 2 bookcases which were over flowing to near breaking point and then I'd started Piling then up on the floor. Last edited by shanghaichica; 05-08-2014 at 04:59 PM. |

Owned my Kobo for less than 3 months, so just reading my ereader for now, but that is because I have been reading fiction. I read a lot of history books and I don't think an ereader is ideal for that at all. I've already tried and it was a disaster. I have no doubt I will always return to paper books. Also, I own several hundred paper books, most of which I have (or will) read more than once.

Mixed, but mostly still paper. Think I have said this in similar threads but I find that ereaders are generally no good for books with lots of images and maps. Such as photography/art books and history books. "Technical" books (programming, etc.) are also a must in paper format. For me at least.
And I "seem" to remember what I read better when it's on paper. I go through phases where I take an ereader on the bus to/from work because it takes up less space and is lighter (currently in a paper phase). It was nice to just take an ereader on a recent trip as opposed to the 4-5 books I used to take. Although I promptly bought a paperback at the airport and some used paperbacks during my vacation, lol When an ereader was really handy was when I broke my wrist several months ago. Was basically limited to using one hand for nearly two months. Reading on paper for extended periods was just too difficult. But once I regained use of my hand I started reading paper books again. Just can't get over my attachment to paper. For psychological reasons I think and also because I simply like them as objects. Still hung up on the whole tactile thing. But I'm okay with that. |
