I suppose another option might be a separate Zinio account using the library account email address. One would have to log out of the app and in with the other account to access the library checkouts, but it might be a solution of a sort. |

Even so, Zinio recognizes one account and all of my library magazines show up when I log in to my Zinio account (desktop and app). The only time I need to use the rbdigital account is when I want to check out new magazines. |

Creating a new account just worked for me - maybe you should try again. I was already logged into the library and used the pc instead of dolphin browser on my tablet I used the first time.

Yeah -- I think there may be some difference between libraries. Perhaps there are different "levels" to the subscription. Biggest challenge with Freading is that they only offer ePub. Since I have a reader that can deal with ePub, that worked for me. Someone with only a Kindle would have to deal with format shifting -- and maybe DRM removal. I have cards at two libraries, and I marched my hubby into a nearby library and had him get a card just so that I can use their Overdrive service. This nearby library is in a regional "consortium" with my own local library and there's a rule that you can only have a card at one member of the consortium. I love my local library and didn't want to give up my card there just to get access to recent releases via Overdrive, so this worked very well. |

I hate Overdrive. Their catalog is a disgrace. Most of the time, when I search for an item, even using an advanced search, it doesn't come up right away. For one library I'm part, I'm better off using the library OPACs as it shows e-books and e-audiobooks along with print books in the results. The other library I'm part unfortunately does not show their e-book offering in the OPAC so I'm stuck using Overdrive's search function. For all the money libraries give them, it's terrible that they don't at least have better software for searching.

Use the OverDrive Link plugin for calibre. It will find all books from the same authors as the books you already have, plus you can do keyword searches. You can configure whichever libraries you are a member of.
Seect the books you have that you wish to link search for "books by this author" and whichever books are not part of your library will still be saved in a handy list with links. Hide the book after you read it so it doesn't keep popping up. |

My library just sent me an e-mail saying that they're transitioning from Overdrive to Axis 360. Seems to me like that kills the audiobook library for me--I don't have a tablet to download the Acoustik app, and even if I did, I want to listen to audiobooks on my nice little Clip Zip, not on some tablet I'd have to be lugging around. I'm really upset by this.

Queens Library (friend's card) just emailed me the same thing. Yay, now I can't check out ebooks for my Kindle anymore.
Are these people clinically stupid or what? |
