It was an older edition of a textbook actually. The teacher liked it better to the newer one.
I saved $20 by buying the digital copy... It's something, lol. |

My biggest expenditures for books (paper or ebooks) both cost around $40.00-$45.00 when I got them. One was a brand new copy of the Oxford Shakespeare and the other was a used set of "The Story of Civilization" by Will & Ariel Durant. The Durant's were almost brand new in appearance and each volume brand new cost $25.00-$30.00 so to get the set in such good condition for only $45.00 was a real bargain. I'd hate to guess what a brand new set might cost now days. Of course they aren't as portable as ebooks.

I've bought a bit more than 200 ebooks from Amazon. I have a large volume bought from other sources, because I've been reading ebooks forever - started on my Palm Pilot in the late 90's). But Amazon has been my primary source for the last few years. I've had sony and kobo readers, and occasionally read on my apple devices. However, since getting my first kindle, I've been very satisfied with Amazon.

Well, at least there's this -- one of my textbooks a few years ago was a wikibook (English class). I was very grateful for that.

I have plenty of books in my Amazon account, but a lot of them are public domain books (to take advantage of the free Audible audiobook deal a while back). I estimated roughly 70 Amazon-bought eBooks.

906
I've bought 906 from Amazon since May 15th, 2009.
446 from Amazon US, most of the rest from Amazon Germany, a handful from Amazon UK. Vast majority in the range of € 10. I'm never "let's buy some books for a low price". It's always "I want to have this and that book. Bought". From time to time I check the daily deals and such, but there's rarely anything I like. About 50% of my books are fiction, mostly thrillers. The rest is business related. |

My next textbook is currently $24.00 and I save $40 digitally. So that's not bad either. Last one I ever have to buy thankfully! I'm going to buy it last minute just to see if it goes down in price slightly. ![]() |

I've certainly had 1,000+ freebies, mostly short stories - they're ideal for a quick read before bed without getting you caught up in a full book. They save me from suddenly noticing that it's 04:00 and I have to get up in 3 hours.

Most of my reading consists of public domain classics. But I've bought and read quite a few ebooks from Amazon, some Stephen King, Orson S Card and the 4-ebook pack of Game of Thrones

Approx 1000 ebooks here and none bought from Amazon.
$1343 spent at Baen over a 5 year period + approx $300 in used K3s and accessories. That works out at an average of $1.65 per book all in. However the average is dragged down a lot by all the free/PD stuff from Gutenberg and other places |

Don't own an Amazon kindle and have purchased around 50 books for it.
You don't need to own an Amazon kindle to buy books... Install the K4PC app, buy the book, remove DRM, convert with calibre or any other means and read it on any other device. |

Don't know how many were free but I know I have over 600 ebooks in my library. I'm getting better, I only purchased 4 this month for a total of $11 and the month is half way over. I'm an 10 ebook a month kind of person who is trying to be a 5 ebook a month person.
I know I've had more but I delete free ebooks after I read them unless they are very good. Most are short romance and not worth the space so I read, then flush. My Calibre library is in the thousands and I constantly update/clean it of the unwanted. Last edited by pagansoul; 01-14-2014 at 03:40 PM. |
