I always wanted to write, it just took me a very long time to finish my first novel. I started it around 1990, finished the first draft in 2003, and published it in 2013. To put a timeline on it, I dabbled in fiction for most of my life, and finished the first draft of my first novel about a week before I turned 40. I also did a little freelancing from about 35. At 44 I got seriously into freelancing and have been doing it since then.

In the meantime I've done an awful lot of paid non-fiction type writing, and ghostwritten a couple of novelizations, the first published in 2008 and the sequel in 2009. I've done a whole bunch of other work, too, ranging from a forex trading course to editing SF and fantasy.

Now, at 50, I'm doing more publishing and working on getting my name out there.
