Thanks for your advises. I think I found my best one. I will return the other twos to Amazon. The $69 is fantastic, I am considering it too. I bought Paperwhite because of its dictionary feature .

I feel bad for you too. My first kindle paperwhite 2 was in perfect condition which I gave to my niece as birthday gift. Now she is complaining about the battery that she needs to recharge every second day.

The second kindle paperwhite 2 has 3 pin holes and yellowish. The holes are so bright even in low light setting, so I asked for a replacement.

The third one arrived yesterday is the best one. No pin holes, the screen is whiter than the other twos.

So out of three, I got 2 good ones.

So you are counting the one that needs the battery to be charged every other day as a good one? I guess it has come to that with the Paperwhite 2.

I wish I did not sell my Paperwhite 1 back to Amazon, but they gave me $125 for it so I figured that I might as well get the Paperwhite 2.

It depends how much reading you do. Amazon quote the battery life of the PW2 as about 28h usage at a medium light level. If you read for 14h a day (or for rather less if you have the light set to a very bright level), having to charge every other day is entirely possible.

So happy that you got a perfect one. Although many people like the cream screen, I cannot like it. I think cream screen is good for normal reading, but I found that it's bad for reading small texts in dictionary.

So finally I keep my first paperwhite and return two replacements. I really hope that the third gen paperwhite, or whatever Amazon call it, will be perfect - white and even.

The battery issue sounded bad to me, but my main concern was the screen. It came out yesterday from her four-year-old brother that she actually read all the time and not playing with him. So I guess that was the reason to her battery issue

I agree about the screen being the most important. Keep an eye on the battery and exchange it a couple months down the road when (hopefully) the screen issue is behind us.

I quit looking for a good screened PW2 after 6 defective units.

it's really frustrating.
My first PW2 had glowing pixels, the exchange unit which came today has some as well, though less visible.
The screen is of a more creamy color, which I like more so I would have considered keeping it, but it is built in crooked!! Come on Amazon!

Since the thread is 2 months old, did everyone receive a satisfying unit by now or did everyone give up??

I've been fortunate as well. I prefer the warm tone of the PW2 over the cooler tone of the PW1, however, both are perfect in terms of build quality.

Same with my kindle keyboard and kindle touch - no screen problems at all. Also, their amazon lighted book covers were excellent quality, and still work great

I got my first paperwhite today and it has one just like that, visible from about brightness 11 up. At 15 which seems to be my preference so far it's really visible.

Anyway, they're shipping a new one, hopefully no flaws.

my third replacement device finally (almost) doesn't have any glowing pixels any more!
The screen color is more greenish than before, which I don't like, but I'll just keep it now.
