But this is (according to the title) an application for the KUAL system, so you will need both (both KUAL and the application). |

You can use KindleMenu to activate it instead. Or kterm. Or USBNetwork. Or an upstart script. Or whatever...
/etc/upstart/batterylevel.conf : Code:
start on started kindle stop on stopping kindle pre-start script /mnt/us/extensions/batterylevel/bin/batterylevel.sh || true end script |

@MarYo'lka: Short and simple answer: yes.
Technical answer: of course not, it's just a shell script. If you can think of an easier way for you to launch it, go for it. EDIT: Burned. ![]() |

Hi
First time posting on this forum, so I apologize in advance if I say something stupid. I'm working on a little side project for a Kindle Paperwhite portable charger. With the default battery indicator, it's hard to see if the Kindle is actually charging and how much has been charged, so I was looking for some kind of battery indicator like the one in this thread. I haven't installed it yet (I have to jailbreak this kindle first), but I was wondering how hard would it to modify it a little bit? In particular, I would like to know if it's possible to have it display more digits. For instance, could it show 56.22% instead of 56%? Also, would it be possible to have the indicator be bigger on the screen? I understand that for practical use, it's better to have it as a small number on the status bar, but in my case it's more of a proof of concept so I'd rather have it big and even in the center of the screen. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post. |

I didn't understand exactly, what it does. Does it display how much battery is left in numbers?, instead of the battery icon, or next to it?, or somewhere between the home and menu button?

By the way, is it possible to add a second button to switch back to the battery picture?
Or even better change the only button behaviour so that if % is on, it switchs it off and viceversa? |

If you install kindle menu, you find the script for switching it embedded with that

I've been using this app and it's great.
I've also installed this other kinda similar app and using them together: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=222779 The battery in the tray app gives me a % number in the tray, but the other thread allows me to check the battery's remaining charge in mAh (which is more accurate than %) but it won't show it in the tray. It only shows it when I go into KUAL and launch the app. Would it be possible to have the battery indicator in the status bar always show mAh instead of %? |

IIRC, it's a bit long to fit in the tray nicely, but it'd be trivial to edit Aeris's version to check

There are so many (millions of?) Kindles out there with aging batteries - -
Displaying that "Available capacity" mAH figure would be very useful. It would let the user know their battery is (or has) aged, hopefully before it self-destructs on an OTA update. |

I'll be honest, I'm more of a hardware guy, so i have no idea how to modify Aeris's app to check if it works.
If any of you guys could find the time, I would be really grateful if you could try it. Sorry to be asking so much, but like knc1 said, I'm sure a lot of users would appreciate this function. Thanks. |

I would like to be of help, but I'm not sure if there's any other way to get the battery charge reading other than executing gasgauge-info -m. Like I said, it's probably not accessible via lipc properties and you'll have to find a way to get the output of the shell command and then display it in the status bar.
For a start, these posts (1, 2) look promising. I'm just not sure if any more info on this is available, or even source code of a project that has a similar implementation. Also, I would imagine it would have to be refreshed periodically using a script, because there isn't a such event that would allow automatic updating (as opposed to battLevelChanged which provides the percentage, for instance) Last edited by Cykotitan; 05-21-2014 at 08:05 PM. |
