One wonders... why would an ebook-vendor remove the possibility to see what format one is buying?
It's only the FRIGGIN' MOST IMPORTANT THING TO KNOW if you're buying an e-book. (Besides the title and author of course.) |

Never mind; I just found out how. For anyone else who is wondering, I used User Agent Switcher to change my browser's user agent to that of IE9, and then I could go back to using the sensible old site. Last edited by tnhh; 09-17-2013 at 04:15 PM. Reason: Found the answer to my question. |

On my tablet, both Boat browser and Dolphin browser give me the old site if I use desktop user agent.

First time I've used kobobooks.com. No wish list? Or is that what "save preview" acts as?

It's inconvenient, but if you add a preview for a book and then check your library, the download options for the book are listed. Here's a screencap of a small section of my library. The Gnostic Gospels has been added as a preview, but not yet purchased. I can see that if I buy it, it'll be an Adobe DRM EPUB.

I've tried that. Some previews on Kobo get added to the library, but then have NO download button. That site is really buggy.

If I remember correctly, previews have never had a download button. They can only be read on desktop or kobo reader. In the above example, Elaine Pagels' Gnostic Gospels is a sample and the other two titles are purchases.

That's correct. I don't actually use the Kobo software, so I normally use the preview button as a sort of poor man's wishlist. When I want to get an actual preview, I try to find the book at Barnes & Noble, where previews can be downloaded as DRM-Free epubs.
