I have a fantasy---Kobo does not release the new devices until the FW is well and truly done. We're still seeing betas, btw, just got one tonight.

Bigger fantasy. Kobo fought with eInk for them to change the Aura's screen to the Carta screen :-P

Either way I'm still planning on getting the Aura to replace my dead Glo (seems like a broken substrate).

2.9.0 (042df55f04, 9/15/13)

I got this info from Kobo earlier. Thanks for the confirmation. If you are a calibre user, it is safe to use with the latest version of calibre after selecting the newer firmware option. This build has been released to the beta test group and I have tested it with calibre. I do have an update for the new way that cover images are handled.

For those who want to know, the cover images are no longer stored in a single directory. They are stored in a two level tree of directories. This removes the problem with to many files in the images directory.

I was wondering about that too. As said, I want to see it next to my Glo, but for now I'd say it looks surprisingly good. Not at all like the glare you get from a tablet or a phone.
