I still think that people who want to read PDF's on a 6" reader are on a futile quest. It doesn't even work well on a 7" tablet.
You'd need an A4 sized reader. An a4 is (roughly) 20x30cm, which is 36.1cm diagonal. Therefore you'd need a 14.2 inch 3:2 tablet or reader, to be able to see the same as you'd see on a printed PDF. That's HUGE. And I didn't even include the bezel. |

These days, I'd be using my iPad mini in a heartbeat...but I'd still wish it were an EPUB that I could read on my Kobo Glo. |

But you did include the margins, which are often much fatter than a bezel. A 12 inch screen would probably do very nicely for PDF. A 14.2 inch screen device would have 40% more area, volume, and weight than a 12 inch screen device with the same thickness and density. |

![]() I bought two ereaders this year and will possibly get another in the fall if there is something a smidgeon nicer than what I have. Not dual paged because I am as happy with a 5"eader as a 6 or 6.8. I don't need a 13.3 tablet/slate, but if I can afford it and can think up a good enough reason that I want one, why not. I think the student and engineering market could be pretty huge though. One friend of mine, who works for a small IT company (5-6 employees) has had Two Windows 8 tablets, a Windows smartphone, and a Windows 8 server purchased for him by his employer in under 6 months. These are items to be used pretty well at his discretion, not work necessities which he has more than enough of. If he wants a 13.3 Eink slate his company will buy him one, maybe a dual paged one ![]() ![]() Helen |

Covers are very common accessories for eReaders. Some are solely for protection of the screen (and for personalization) while others house lights for non-glo devices and storage for a stylus. I suppose that there is of course the protection of the finish of the device and some extra protection against dropping as well. But it's definitely an addition to the advertised weight of the devices. I don't see why they could make a cover that was more functional. A relative has a Microsoft Surface which is where I first became aware of this kind of thing, but the screen protector keyboards are detachable and functional. I'm not sure what devices (besides Apple somethings, I'd imagine) used that magnetic connection to lock in place and power the component, but I could see that as maybe a way to have a reader with an optional 2nd page/screen. And that way if the hinge busted you'd have a way to replace part of the device without trashing the whole thing.
Of course, with the keyboard piece it's not *really* supposed to bend beyond a certain angle. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by SuzanneTF; 07-30-2013 at 07:21 PM. |

![]() ![]() My old Sony 600 which I gave away had a heavier cover but it was kind of soft leather and didn't seem to cut into my hands of flop around. Covers are good for some, but I now prefer an uncovered reader. Helen |

I'm definitely for the two 13" readers communicating with one another at home ^^ But they are too big to carry around.
Two 9"-ish readers would be more convenient for those who need to study/take notes on the go... But I guess you can already do something quite similar, except that the devices are not synchronised... |
