If they are going to take a long time fromthe library, then I can say that the library is hoarding them for me and if I want a book enough to reserve it you can be sure I will have read it within a day or two of receiving it

With me it is the thrill or comfort or overall enjoyment I experience and I am pretty sure ownership has nothing to do with it. But I have known people who would stroke or pat or gaze admiringly at a book they bought for days or weeks before even opening it, and I had a friend who would borrow the book from the library to read rather than actually get finger prints on her copy, and woe to those who dare to touch her books. Not a collector thing I don't think, just she loved the look of an unopened (virgin) book

I'm not as bad as your friend but the fear of creases and broken book spines is why I don't even let my wife borrow my books lol (our taste rarely overlaps so I'm sure she's not bothered too much ). I don't loan out movies or video games either, I simply take pride in keeping my things in very nice condition. If I wreck something that's one thing but the thought of somebody ruining something of mine gives me conniptions.

The library is a great way for me to discover new authors. But if I love the book, I will want to re-read it over and over again so I definitely buy the book and add it to my collection.

The library saves me a lot of money as I can "try before I buy."

I'm with Anabana, bookaho!ic & Blossom. Though I don't visit the physical library often I do like to re-read and use overdrive as well as my public library's ebook collection. I also have the problem of filling my ereader with books so I have to read through some and then delete them from it in order to read more. Still being addicted to reading is a problem I'm very happy to have.

I love going to the library to take out books, even though I have to bring it back. I don't have any room for anymore books.
