This sounds very odd to me. I have a different Linksys router - a WRT54G. On mine, settings are stored in non-volatile memory. I can power off and back on, and expect previously stored settings to be there. (Indeed, power cycling is one standard method of resolving problems .)

If yours is losing configuration when the power goes, I suspect either a defective router or errors in configuring in the first place.

One common error users make on routers like this is that settings may not be cumulative. If you make changes on a configuration page, you generally must click the save button on that page before proceeding to other pages. You can't make changes on a number of config pages in succession and then hit save once to store all of them.

Very odd.
Like DMcCunney I have WRG54G+speed booster. I use it for 4 and a half year, no problems at all.
At work I use many different Linksys routers, one of them 350N (probably very much like yours). It supports 20 computers in a room used for Cisco Academy. It is on 365 days per year. I use it for almost 2 years now. No problems with loosing config at all. Never.

I think your router is faulty.
