I didn't know the 500 came with one. Now that really doesn't make sense . I would have gladly paid an extra 10.00 or 15.00 to have in the box. I'm already spending 300.00 what's a little more. Oh well, like you say, it's probably a cost cutting thing. |

Hi,
I have a doubt about this psp charger. They all seem to be 5 volts and the Reader says it takes 5.2 volts. So, is 5 volts enough ?. I just got my reader and would not like to screw it right away. I am being cautious here guys.... Thanks for al the tips and knowledge. jaico |

I'm going to have to disagree with this for right now. Today I picked up a cheap PSP charger, actually this one pictured here: ![]() I get no action from it. The charging light on the 505 doesn't come on, it does absolutely nothing. Any ideas? |

I'm going to take back my previous post. The charger I bought is damaged. If I fiddle with the cord it charges. Glad I didn't pay too much for it.

Cheap PSP charger from Carrefour in Europe
I just wanted to say thanks to you guys,
![]() I was going to buy the "official" Sony prs 505 charger (rrp £39.99 in the UK) then saw this thread & checked out the local hypermarket. They had a compatible one 110-240V / 5v 2A output for 7.9 Euro's .It looks the same as the previous photo's (detachable ac cord) works a treat I would not have bought / used a cheap flea market one, but Carrefour are a big organisation & I don't' think they risk their reputation on poor quality products. Edit 03/17 Just another thought, the Sony battery is a 3.7 volts 750mAh, Lithium Polymer same as in my Motorola Phone. Why on earth would it need a charger with a 2000mA capacity? My phone charges in 2 hrs the same as the Sony from a charger with an output of 350mA though 6.25 volts. as the battery supposedly contains charge / over volt control circuits why would the Motorola charger not work. (not that I intend to try it now!) Any electronic experts care to comment? Last edited by columbus; 03-17-2009 at 07:21 AM. Reason: spelling |

Even cheaper adapter
Looking in my cupboard I noticed I had quite a few mobile phone chargers lying around. One of them was rated 5.2V and 800mA. So I decided to buy a dc-connector (4.0mm/1.7mm) and solder it to the cord after cutting off the original tip.
Seems to work fine and its cost was only one euro. -maarten |
