And the extension .prc is used for these files on Fire tables and Kindle for Android. Amazon is consistently inconsistent when it comes to file extensions.

Is it possible to generate mobi without KF8? Specially using kindlegen.
I'm scanning books, crop text and generate html file with images. So it's an extremely simple book/html. There is no need to add KF8 to mobi and it makes it quite heavy. |

The "need" is that the intended purpose of the kindlegen tool is to create files for publication in the Kindle store, where both components of the "dual Mobi" are used. If you want only Mobi7 I'd suggest using the old mobigen tool instead.

The majority of my ebooks is in EPUB format and usually I convert them to MOBI to read them on Kindles. Is there any advantage on converting them to AZW3?

Several. You'll retain the original layout and formatting far better with the azw3. Also you'll get to use custom fonts and the boldness slider, those don't work with the .mobi format.

Yes, and this is a huge deal if you've struggled with the previous standard fonts. I so enjoy this that I no longer convert to mobi but azw3 using Calibre.

Silly question but is there any way to enable to page curl for books not bought on Amazon?
I have few books but none will do the animation of page turning. Is it possible? Would that be related to the format? Last edited by PangaDayWalker; 03-22-2019 at 12:21 PM. |

On the other hand, the send to kindle app on my Mac is refusing to send .azw3, its only accepting mobi (I want to be able to sync between kindle and phone app) and mobi seems to be the only way to do it.
