Sony finally released their long awaited Sony Reader iPad app. It is very impressive with a lot of formatting options and the choice of 45 fonts! If the Sony Reader app can have that many fonts you would think Amazon could do that for the Kindle app too.

Thanks, that worked for me, I d/l it to the PC then put it in SugarSync and installed it on the Fire.

I found the themes and the fonts and it says download fonts. So that means it only comes with one default font? That seems odd.

Yeah you hit download fonts and it will download a bunch. It's a smart way to keep the file size down. You can add any font you want to the Mantano folder.

Does the Android app have this?

I sent Amazon feedback on their Android app asking for a sans serif font. I gave them the whole dyslexic spill. How they need to remember there are alot of us that can't use serif fonts to read.

Even the Galaxy Player has font choices why can't the Kindle For Android app?

I don't have the Sony Reader app for Android. I installed it last year but it was gawd awful, which is why I'm amazed they turned out a good iOS app as far as format options go. I immediately deleted it after about a day.

The iOS app looks a lot like Bluefire so I'm wondering if Sony bought them are at least the rights to use their software. The iOS app has terrific formatting capability but lacks things like one touch dictionary look up or an offline dictionary.

Sounds nice! I just discovered flipfonts! Went to XDA and downloaded a bunch of them to Dropbox. Installed this Nokia font and WOW it improved readability by 50% Doesn't work inside the Kindle app but it makes surfing a much nicer experience. I love I can change the default font on my SGP5 this is great!

I downloaded the ones that automatically were available.

However, adding additional fonts was not successful. I put a font apk in the Mantano folder...using File Expert I navigated to the apk and installed. No font. Do you have any ideas?

You don't use a apk. You add font files to Mantano\Fonts using File Explorer
They must be ttf files. Doesn't need to be a family just the regular font it won't use bold or italic in custom fonts. We asked repeatedly for them to fix this but they ignore us.

I spent 3 hours last night getting Sepia theme to match Kindle's. They now pretty similar to each other so I can switch back and forth and my eyes wont go wonky.

Thanks...I'll just stick with what's in the applications. They have some good ones. I'm not too good at adding fonts to things. I added a modified reader app to a Sony but instead of different fonts, all the font choices are the same font. I am trying to go back to stock now. Hopefully that worked. Then on top of that my paperwhite freaked out and I had to restart it. Seems to be back to normal now. *phew* Just in time to take it with me to go get the kids from school.

You can grab the fonts off the Kindle Fire that it's reader uses and add them to Mantano. That's what I did. You will need to do some exploring they are on the root side in a folder. Make sure to have hidden files showing. You don't need to be rooted to copy them.

I like the 2 page view (in landscape) in the Lite version. I don't see any way to do that in the Free version.

Having fun playing with all these, not sure if I like Aldiko or Mantano best.

Your PC should have Veranda in your fonts system folder. It's a Window system font. Trebuchet should be there too if not install the nook app and use ES File Explorer to get it from there, They have it in there.

I put the Nook app on my SGP5 and was surprise to see they no longer have Amasis! In fact the app has changed so much since last year. It looks like a copy of the Kindle. They use to have this nice grey theme and now it's just 3 themes like the Kindle app and no way to change the text color that I could tell of. Trebuchet is one of the fonts though.

I modified a few fonts last night to add more weight they look much better on Mantano now. I also really like Charis modified font here that JS Wolf did on Mantano. It looks really nice and I don't usually like many serif fonts.

I also emailed Kindle support about adding a Sans Serif font to Android. I didn't expect to receive a response as I just use the feedback form on the app but I did. They said they forwarded it to the developer team. I told them as a Dyslexic serif fonts are hard for me to read with. I can't tell how many times I sent feedback on the KF and never gotten a peep back.
