There is a report of somebody getting a refund from him, in another thread. Hopefully he will learn to ship these properly after a few returned units. Still no feedback about DX demos though...

Not unless insurance was purchased. And even with insurance, the shipping company could (rightfully) claim that it was not packaged adequately. DX screens are prone to damage from twisting and flexing, so it needs to be shipped in a box, not an envelope.

It's irrelevant on eBay anyways. Buyers deal with the seller not anybody else. If the seller thinks the shipping company damaged it that's their issue with them. They still have to make good with the buyer. First.

I bought a few demo Kindles and they *all* had "for parts" in their description and they all (but one which I've had replaced) arrived with the functioning screens. I've seen a lot of listings for defective items and if the major (functionality or price-wise) component of the item is broken (like a display in a smartphone, tablet or laptop) it is always photographed and described. Selling a Kindle with the broken display and just describing it as "for parts" not an honest description as it is incomplete -- major broken components should be described (and photographed) explicitly. So yeah, I'm with geekmaster on that -- either bangss is not an honest seller or just stupidly careless about shipping the merchandise. |
