You really cannot trust the descriptions or the photos, and having a dialog with the vendor before bidding does not often help either (they usually say their description is correct).
There are a lot of eBay stores that buy and sell just about anything. I often see stuff advertized that is obviously not what it was listed to be. I think you have a lot of people buying things at flea markets, garage sales, etc. then reselling them, and in many cases they honestly don't have a clue what they are reselling. They could figure it out if they used Google and a few brain cells, but they obviously don't. As someone already posted, when buying a Kindle via eBay ask for photos of that specific item and especially of the ID plate on the back.

Yes, sadly there's a lot of stupid people out there. I'm not sure which are my faves jewelry findings sellers who get hit with negs because the picture is bigger than the item even though the listing says 5mm!!! The picture looked bigger therefor you misled me - SCAM!!

Or I know it says small but I thought I was getting a large. Um....why???

Stupid people are on both sides of the counter - buyers & sellers. Very sad.

K3 and new kindles only have the REAL serial number in firmware (i.e. settings menu, or on original box). The model number on the kindle back cover is meaningless except on very old kindles. You need to go by the first 4 characters of the serial number (B0xx).
