Ninja, can you please stop saying things that just may very well be untrue? There are exceptions to removing DRM in the DMCA and it's not yet been proven in a court of law if the DMCA trumps fair use or not. Fair use gives you the right to remove the DRM for personal use. So with the exceptions to the DMCA and Fair Use, saying that it is illegal to strip DRM in the US could very well be wrong. Just because you are a lawyer does not make you correct in this case.

What's wrong is that people are getting stuck with an obsolete format and they don't even know this. And yes, it's very noticeable at times that Mobipocket is obsolete. Just try to do a simple blockquote and you'll see that it looks odd and that's because Mobipocket doesn't support a right margin. Amazon could have gone ePub with their own flavor of DRM, but they chose to keep their customers in the dark ages and now with KF8 being buggy on the two Kindles (not including the Fire) that support KF8, people are stuck with a KF8 version if one exists and they don't have the choice to download the Mobi version. So for those two buggy Kindles, it's a lose-lose situation for the customers and for the other Kindles, it's a lose situation in some cases.
