I see. The main problem facing dock makers is the failure of device makers to standardize the charging port location. I've seen ports on the bottom, sides, and top; centered and off centered. That makes it difficult to produce a charging dock that will work with all Android devices.

My Galaxy Player 4.0 has the port on the top. That makes it impossible to produce a dock for it.

I think the Philips docks would already work on it, it would still be upside down of course but I think the Philips App you install supports 180 degree rotation.

I could be wrong but I could swear I read that somewhere when I was looking at reviews.

Android phones don't have a standard location for the micro-USB and not all support audio over USB.
I have a Phillips Streamium that will play the music on my phone via Wi-Fi, but it idn't exactly 100%. Sometimes it drops the connection to the network and when it is back the connection to the music player (phone) is gone.

What I really want is to have the music in the Cloud and then stream it from any device I choose to either the Streamium over Wi-Fi or to my stereo, over Bluetooth. I believe the Apple crowd has a much easier time with stuff like this.

Thanks. I knew about the port location, but not about the audio support. I figured they all supported audio. That gives Apple another brownie point.

For home audio, I prefer my iPod touch. I have speaker docks scattered about the house and just move my iPod when I change rooms. Very convenient.

That's all well and good but Apple intend to change the connector with the iPhone 5 onwards, I'd guess there will probably be adapters but they will probably be quite overpriced and everything is going to look a bit less appealing.

Third party adapters should be cheaper. In the meantime, I'm good for another 2~3 years with my current iPod. And during that time, Android players might become a viable alternative.

Viable as in universal speaker docks similar to those for iOS devices.
