Not really (although I'm sure some will be). Could care less about the social aspect. Looks like it only streams Youtube and the Play Store (no Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, etc.). No playing your own files (MKV's, DVD & BR ISO's, MP3s, etc.) over a network like Boxee, WD Live, Popcorn Hour, etc. as far as I can tell. The price sucks too, but it looks kinda neat .

Might be just me, but that seems a little pricey for a streaming box - albeit one with a built-in amp.

Thanks, hadn't noticed that. Outside the US though (where a few people live) I'm not sure that'll be seen as justification

No SIM card option? I need a tablet with SIM so that I can get rid of my phone. These days it's used mostly for SMS messages so a tablet will be just fine. But, this 7'product competition is good.

and no.

GoogleTV is something totally different. I was expecting a big announcement on GoogleTV instead they did not even so much as mention it. While the Google Glasses was fun it completely was irrelevant. They should have focused on improving and announcing existing products.

It was horrible. After switching to iOS I can hardly stand to use an Androi device anymore, because everthing is so herky-jerky in comparison. I think Otis great that they're resolving that!

Yeah, just add a 4G radio and it's a 7" phone.

Since the Nexus 7 has GPS, and Google is making offline maps available, it should be able to do turn-by-turn navigation.

$199 for a 7" GPS device

Google IO Day two is about Chrome, both the browser and the OS.

Some of the new OS features are amazing. In particular Google ChromeOS is giving access to VM and cores. Google is now providing dumb terminals to the masses. Never really cared about Chrome but this is a compelling feature.

For developers this is also huge as this can also scale their app to take full advantage of Google's super computer.
