My reading habits were created as-is 6000 years ago. Some were killed in a flood, but no new ones emerged.

Certainly. I started out reading single-celled books, now the books are walking upright.

My tastes seem to have devolved. I used to read 'literature.' Now I read entertaining young adult books. I do still like 'literature.' I think the problem is so much of it is garbage masquerading as high literature. These guys couldn't plot a story to save their lives.

Evolve, not so sure but I've noticed I'm reading books now in genres I never have before, like sci fi and alternative history. Never thought I'd be interested in those. Being able to sample ebooks before buying has been great for that.

I don't know that my reading tastes have changed all that much. I still prefer "speculative fiction" over pretty much anything else. But the genres have definitely changed with new genres emerging and others withering.

Sometimes when I reread a book from the distant past I will still like it, but for different reasons.
