RIP Ray Bradbury

"The Martian Chronicles" was one of the first science fiction books I ever read, and it is still one of my favorites.

He had a way with words. My favorite short story is "The Long Rain"; one of the stories featured in "The Illustrated Man".

The rain continued. It was a hard rain, a perpetual rain, a sweating and steaming rain; it was a mizzle, a downpour, a fountain, a whipping at the eyes, an undertow at the ankles; it was a rain to drown all rains and the memory of rains. It came by the pound and the ton, it hacked at the jungle and cut the trees like scissors and shaved the grass and tunneled the soil and molted the bushes. It shrank men's hands into the hands of wrinkled apes; it rained a solid glassy rain, and it never stopped.

It is sad indeed.

Fahrenheit 451 was one of the 1st science fiction books I read. Ironically, that was long time ago, when I was a kid, in Colombia, so I read it in Spanish.

I may read it again in English.

I've had about 6 of his books on my TBR list, so when I finished the book that I was reading this morning I started Martian Chronicles in his memory. Fahrenheit 451 has long been one of my favorite books.

Too bad he wasn't a fan of our reading gadgets.

I have read many of his books, but The Martian Chronicles is a favorite. The first time I read it was as a sophomore in high school, and it inspired me to write a poem, which I sent to Mr. Bradbury. He replied with a lovely thank you letter.

Rest in peace, Mr. Bradbury.

Indeed, an awesome story. I read Fahrenheit 451, The Illustrated Man, and a bunch of other shorts. Great writer, gave me hours of reading pleasure for which I thank him muchly. RIP.

Thanks, and karma to Tubemonkey for those videos of reading of The Veldt. That is my favorite story out of Illustrated Man. Sleep well parents, your children would never harm you .
