K3 owners, when will you upgrade? - Page 4

Roughly the same for me, except I upgraded from a Sony, the difference between the two screens was so pronounced that my original intention of using the Sony when i bought epubs quickly disappeared.

As I almost never use the keyboard, I would have definitely considered getting a KT for the greater portability, but the lack of page turn buttons was a deal-breaker for me as it is far more comfortable to tap a button with your thumb than to keep moving onto the screen to do the same thing or you have your page slightly obscured the whole time.

The K4 keyboard isn't that bad. It isn't something I want to take notes with but if you are use to using game controllers then you'll get use to using it pretty quick.

As you can see from my list of devices, I'm an Amazon lover

My Fire is my goto ereader for nearly all my reading needs, but the K3 is the second most used and I'll be hanging on to it until it dies.

Re: Physical page turn buttons and keyboards - I picked up a little inexpensive conductive stylus and find that it's easier to use than buttons and the Fire keyboard is as easy to use as the K3's.

You said you use the Fire as your general reader. Do you use your iPad for any reading? Or is it just an all-purpose browsing kinda thing for you?

How did that get in there?

It's an iPad1. Used it as a ereader for a short while. Too heavy and big for sustained reading and it usually sits in my bedroom for occasional games of Solitaire and Angry Birds.

I have have the K3 and the fire. Most of my reading is still on the K3, for now the fire is my tablet. I have apps for keeping up with my blood pressure, weight, and what I eat every day. I also have a journal that I use to make notes of how my day has gone. About the only reading that I do so far on the fire is my daily Bible studies. I do use the fire also to catch up on some older TV shows that I have missed over the years.
But my K3 is my go to for reading, the battery last longer, and the screen is easier on my eyes.

For some reason my K3's battery barely lasts me through a day. (2 hours a day and on standby the rest of the day.) So I'm thinking of upgrading very soon.

As Blossom wrote, check indexing. From the home page enter something like ZXC and click search. You'll see if something is trying to index. If it is, you should delete the item. Sometimes you won't be able to delete something stuck in indexing without plugging in your Kindle to computer and doing it there.

Otherwise, just go on ebay and buy another battery. It is easy to change. Make sure you are not buying a used battery! There are many on ebay. Check the specs.

As Long as my trusty ( no. 2 since introduction ) K3 works, no upgrade, I think. So far no need to change to newer models.
HOWEVER ... the stories about the lighted eInks ... hmmm
Could be replacement candidate, but not before K3 dies.
( I HOPE NOT !!!! )

I will add another Kindle to my Kindle Family when the new lighted Kindle comes out.

My K3 is too healthy for me too wait.

I need a eReader for bedtime. Right now I'm using the Kindle Fire but at 14oz it really heavy to hold up for long and sync doesn't work right on personal documents and bunch of other pdoc bugs.

Seeing the personal who saw the new Kindle said it was camouflage. I don't think it will be a Kindle Touch with a light but a whole new look.

There'd be no reason to hide a KT bezel. I hope they go back to a darker bezel.

My K3 is my reader. I had the Touch for about a week before returning it. Since I can liberate my Amazon books now, my next reader may be something a bit more autonomous... perhaps a Sony, that is unless Amazon comes out with a Kindle as good (for me) as the K3.

I try and avoid "branding" to any one particular product or company to the point of possibly being a form of branding in it's own right.
