This. I would like (at most) a little give, but certainly not too much. Flexible enough to survive a fall (or clumsy spouses), sturdy enough to feel like an über light hardcover book. Just my 2 cents...

Husbands should be update-able, lol. Husband v2.5: now cleans up behind himself and doesn't break ereaders.

If these can be made ledger size (11 x 17) at a reasonable cost (say no more than twice the cost of a comparably size lcd) then I can see a great market for musicians. We attended several outdoor concerts last summer, and after watching the musicians wrestle with scores blowing about, an e-ink display would be ideal (low power, visible in sunlight.)

There are many other applications for monochrome static displays as well. Durable always beats fragile. It is all contingent on cost.

Now that you mention it, yes. It just occurred to me that in not too many years, kids will watch the Harry Potter movies, and see the newspapers that have moving pictures, and won't see anything unusual about it, because they will have seen that on a daily basis. They won't get that this was supposed to be magical and amazing.

It'll need to be enclosed in a relatively sturdy frame, or there won't be kid who won't fold it all the way and break it.

It should make larger screens more practical. The larger a screen is, the more it tends to flex, so they more rigid you have to make it, because the current screens tend to break if they flex. But if the screen can flex without breaking, the devices can be larger and lighter.

LG has already shown the ability to produce such a display. at teh same time basically that they were ready to produce this size they had already said they could and shown a 19" diagonal display

edit- oh hey I actually took that last one myself hahaha. ooops its huge ill fix that

and of course they were the ones prepared to provide the 11.5" diagonal display for the Skiff before it tanked.

If the surrounding material is a kind of hard but flexible rubber you can have it in your pants' back pocket and sit down without destroying the device. That would make e-books a lot more popular for everybody commuting on public transportation.
