It completely solved the problem. No more rebooting at all since I took it off the account with the big archive. This is my 3G with SO. I have another KK {wifi only}, which is still on the big archive account. I have only connected it to the wifi a few times since I made the change (i.e. removing the other one) and it has also not rebooted. Maybe Amazon fixed the issue?

For me, at least. But it makes me hesitant to buy any future Kindles. I'm interested in a 2nd gen Kindle Touch, so we'll see.

I have a K3 (wifi only, no SO. I had under 200 books. It did one factory reset, by itself, wiping out everything and many reboots (boy under the tree). Complained to Amazon. Just received a new K3. After setting up wifi, restoring the books via Calibre, I turned on the wifi to get Collections. Unit updated software to version 3.3. Turned off wifi.

Only had the new K3 for one day. No metal in the Timbuk2 cover. K3 did a reboot. I did not see it doing that but saw the boy under the tree as a screen saver.

Any clues as to why this is happening. No BIG store of books on the unit. No metal covers. No Calendar or other programs. Only 200 books converted by Calibre from pdf, html, .epub , .lit and mobi formats.

The way I could always tell if my K3 rebooted while in "sleep" mode, is looking at the archive number immediately after waking. (Before connecting to wifi). If it is (0) then I know it rebooted.

When you saw the boy under the tree as screen saver, did you see the progress bar also?

Also how many books are in your archive? (Not on the device).

I had 5 books in the archive.
UPDATE: I worked with Amazon Customer Service Executive Area for over 3 months trying to solve this problem. Finally, they sent me a new K3 in exchange for the old one. After one week, no problems. The old K3 did do a factory reset and then thereafter periodic reboots but no books lost.

I did have everything backed up on Calibre. Bless that program.
