What with the various races involved, things are becoming disturbingly like that story by H.G. Wells.
I direct everyone to that really fun essay by Mr. Charles Lamb, "The Two Races of Men." Note that the Men Who Lend are inferior to that "Great Race," the Men Who Borrow. (Mr. Lamb didn't speak of women due to the gender synechdoche of that time being considered inclusive.) And just so you know, DT: My comment about your reading habits was facetious. Just trying to interject humor into what threatens to become a tug of war between people who seem believe the rope they're pulling is alternately (1) a handful of stretchable shaving cream and (2) reconstituted duck entrails which impart thirty-seven minutes' temporary immortality to the final owner. |

Thank you P (or how do you prefer Prestidigitweeze in short?)
I will check out that essay. If it is half as good as your own post then yes I will definately enjoy reading it. I did get that you were not serious critizising my reading habits. You should not have taken my response any different than your post. With all due respect I will answer different depending on the smart-level of said person. For you I have to try extra extra hard to sound half way decent funny. If I don't succeed then the reason might be because you cannot hear my accent. Yes I am imported from Germany right into the US. So please excuse my merely mediocre eenglish skillz. Last edited by DuckieTigger; 01-24-2012 at 06:28 AM. Reason: hit ok too soon |

Thanks for the props, DT. My nick is Presti.
Given your point your native language is German, we should lay off you for using the word racist to mean prejudiced. Do take solace in the fact your English beats the genitalia off my German even though my brother, who's twenty years older than I, married a woman from Berlin and brought her to live with us when I was nine, permanently altering my sense of humor while leaving my polylinguistic potential untapped. Somehow, you found yourself able to write coherently in my language while I, apparently impressed with my own cleverness, never came close to mastering yours despite the proximity of a native speaker. This despite the language's precision, the surrealism of its built-in metaphors and -- heres what many friends often miss -- its propensity for expressing discorporate lyricism and delicate complexity. Decades after my brother's example, I followed it by living with a Bavarian writer and German expatriate for years. Her seemingly insensate limbs graced the Edwardian-crime-scene cover of my first collection, now published years ago. And now back to our regular feature. I'm surprised they didn't include eMailing.
That's My second most common use of my Kobo Vox eReader, and presumably the KF is capable of this as well? |

Yep the KF has an email program. I use the Enhanced version they gave away the day after they released the Kindle Fire.

I suppose this wouldn't surprise me. While I've had an iPad for almost a year, how I use it now is different from how I used it when I first got it. It takes a while to figure out how to use a new device, especially one with as much capability as a tablet.

Now, I have my email configured and am starting to move my banking over. I use the WSJ app, USA Today, Pulse, and a few other news feeds daily. I use TuneIT when I work from home and FREEdi, Blue Squid, and Netflix for video. I use the web browser more now that I have bookmarked a bunch of kindle-friendly sites. I still read books, but hardly ever play games. Yesterday I had my car serviced. They had a hotspot, so I did a little shopping, read part of a book, and caucht up on E! |

I have used my tablet a fair amount, but mainly for web browsing. I have several computers which I prefer. And 3 eink readers. Which again I prefer.
But I got my sister a tablet and now she rarely uses her quad core computer, which I gave her last year. Tablets are nice, just not my preferred device. Helen |
