The WiFi on the Pocketbook 360+ is very painfull to use, because no touchscreen (keyboard). So Ill probably check into the 360 no plus, even though it only has 4 grey levels.

I vote PRS-T1 Again
I tried the Android Market fix and it works GREAT! And, yes, I can now sync with Google Calendar. Just brought the PRS-T1 to a 5 in my book.

I have a Sony 650, previously had a PB360 and my son has a Kobo touch. I also got my mom a T1 for Christmas and have set it up for her so got to experience the wifi. I have to say, I really like the Sony readers. My PB360 drove me crazy as it just seemed to have issues. When I got my 650 I was in love because it just plain worked. The kobo is nice too but I prefer the Sony as it just does so much more. I think I would really like the T1 as I read when I rock my son at night and have always wished I could search for another book if I finish my read right there and then rather than having to wait until I could get to my computer. Either way though, I really do like the Sony readers, enjoy how they feel in my hands and the overall experience just works. The kobo is fine and works well, just not the same as the Sony.

I agree this is a great combination. Add to that calibre integration, which users of Sony devices take for granted and for reading, other brand readers will have a hard time keeping pace. I think the T-1 is going to be about the same price and if I was in the market I would buy a T-1. For me two main reasons come to mind. 1. I like to control my environment by customizing things. 2. I have access to an elibrary with about 12000 books and being able to wirelessly down load from this library straight to my reader would be a very nice plus. Either way the OP can't go wrong getting a PRS-650 or PRS-T1. |

Ahhh yes, I forgot the wifi on the 950. My fault. ![]() Wifi: As mentioned earlier in another tread - the big advantage of Wifi for me would be to load content onto the reader without charging the reader over USB. I presume this is not very healthy for the battery. Customizing: I doubt (without deep knowledge in the T1) that the T1 have more (real not just theoretical) possibilities for customizing than a X50 with PRS+. Of course man COULD do a lot of things - but WILL and CAN you? Examples: Does the the T1 have assignable gesture-functions for the touch screen? Does it allow changing CSS-style with 2 'clicks'? Does it allow reading while chaging? (maybe it does, but I guess no) I too like adapt technical gadgets onto my kind of usage. That is why I love my 350 with the newest custom built of PRS+. With my own icons, altered button assignment, single tab functions, ... The are reasons to allow doubts that the PRS+-developer-team will produce inbetween appropriate time some comparable modification for the T1. 12000 books: That can/could be a big advantage to be able to download it now and immediately. My personal experience is a bit contrary: The more possibilities and opportunities in less time I have to use things, the less I use it appropriate and deeply. The more books I could read now, the less concentrated I will read only one. When I have to choose what I will read long before I can use it the reading experience is deeper, the content remains better in my (sadly very forgetful) brain. But that's of course just my personal experience, as mentioned above. A. |

I really like the 350 and PRS+ makes it a fantastic reader. With Android as an OS for the T1, on the other hand, we have already now a complete and highly developed ecosystem available with thousands of developers busy. Allow me to answer your questions: Does the the T1 have assignable gesture-functions for the touch screen? No (not yet), at least with the regular reading app. You can customize CoolReader and FBReader to a high degree, though. Does it allow changing CSS-style with 2 'clicks'? Using one of the alternative reading apps, you can do so already now. Many people do so. Does it allow reading while chaging? (maybe it does, but I guess no) Yes, definitely. Even while it is connected to a PC. (You can choose the mode). The are reasons to allow doubts that the PRS+-developer-team will produce inbetween appropriate time some comparable modification for the T1. I agree. kartu himself expressed, that he is not very eager on writing the whole thing (PRS+) again from scratch in a different framework, which I can perfectly understand. But already now we can do lots of things and when rooted, it can do things, the x50 models eaven couldn't dream of. Don't get me wrong, I highly respect and appreciate the work of the PRS+ team. It's just, with Android, there is many, many more people who are fluent with the OS and applying a little hack here or there is no big deal for them. The collection of tweaks and tricks in the wiki has grown amazingly in a very short time. As I said in the beginning, PRS+ is great and having the potential of Android is great, too. The more I deal with the T1, the more I realize, it's sort of useless to try to compare and try to decide, which is "better". There is no better between apples and pears. Both are good. |

Although I already have a 350 and a 650, I wanted the T1 (because of the WiFi) as soon as it was launched, but having had my share of early adopter experiences, I decided to wait for the first feedback here before making the jump. Then there were all these reports on the freezing, so of course that plus the prohibitive price of the device here kept me from getting one.
After the firmware fix, I got the opportunity to get one from France for much less (as in 25% less, Sony, really, an official price difference of 25% between two EU countries with a big common frontier ?????), so I got a red one. As much as I love my PRS+ modded devices, there is indeed a huge gap between the X50 and the T1. There are many positive aspects speaking for the T1, and they have all been listed here already. The minus point for me is the build of the T1, because I did not mind the weight of the X50 considering the build quality and the haptics of it. But how would they be able to propose such a device for 150€ if not by making some cutbacks along the line ? For the rest, and for my needs (WiFi and the possibility to read my mobis as well as my epubs on the same device), the T1 wins. But if you don't need WiFi, if you are not into tweaking, and if your whole library is in epub format, I think the X50 are doing a brilliant job. As a matter of fact, their price on ebay and such never took a dip, which for me is a sign of how good they are. |

Toss a coin. Or whatever.
The Kobo seems better. If you can arrange it, just take a look at both of them hands on. |

Not that it matters but your quote above makes it look like I am advocating wifi so not to charge the battery, not my statement. It wouldn't hurt me at all if you removed dwanthny from this quote.
