Absolutely. I'm not being pedantic here, by the way. It is important to understand the differences between collections and folders; they are functionally very different things.

 Although I have(and absolutely love) a PRS-T1 I believe a kindle is a better choise for you.

I think the Sony T1 is better than the Nook touch, the Kindle touch and the Kobo touch just because unlike the others it has landscape mode (the Kobo has it but for PDFs only). I know it's one aspect only, but for me landscape mode is crucial.

That's very much a matter of personal taste. I've never used landscape mode on any of the numerous readers I've owned that have had it, so its lack on the Kindle Touch is irrelevent to me.

PRS+ installed on top of the Sony software gives folders while retaining collections. It works well on the x50s and before. I haven't paid attention to the T1 to know if PRS+ will be developed for it.

No, PRS+ will not be developed for the T1 because it would be pointless. The T1, like the Nook, is Android and rootable. This means you can add all manner of 3rd party apps on the device/s.This is a huge advantage of the Nook and the Sony.

The only third party apps that I can see being of any value are ones that would open Amazon and B&N books. Since I strip the DRM from them and convert everything to ePub, I consider such apps to be pointless.

Why do you disagree? Because of the hardware? Book selection?

In Canada, Penguin does not sell eBooks at Amazon. So, Kindle users in Canada cannot buy Penguin's eBooks in AZW. They have to buy from a place like Kobo, strip the DRM and convert. This is a lot of popular authors not available to the Kindle in native AZW.

Mind you the books I looked for (from penguin.ca) were listed on Amazon with a different 'Publisher', but were 'Sold By' Penguin Publishing. I am honestly not sure how that works. Regardless, as I stated before, since it is so easy to buy from the US Kindle store in Canada, I'd argue if one is basing an ebook reader purchase strictly on available books in Canada for said ereader, kindle is the way to go.
