between ebooks and paper i easily spent $500+. i bought 250 kindle books alone however most were $3 and under. bought a bunch of paperbacks.

however this year i pretty much abandoned my gaming hobby so it all balances out.

I just seem to have bought five more books. Kobo and those 35% off coupons will drive me bankrupt one day, I fear...

Since I bough my ereader a couple years ago I spent about the price of a used car (i've been rebuying a lot of paper books and I went on a book buying frenzy at first). This last year I've cut down a LOT. I'm concentrating on reading all my previously bought books and only buying bargains that drop to < $6. Also Skyrim came out and that's cutting into my reading time.

In the first couple of years after getting my reader I probably spent around £150 a year on e-books. I've spent a lot less this year as I've been reading mostly library books, I still have quite a few purchased books to catch up on. I'm not at all averse to buying e-books, but there's no need to right now. I'm not as prolific a reader as many here, probably 1 - 2 books a week at this time of year. I don't buy or read paper books any more.

I didn't buy as many as I thought I would, and I didn't read as many either. Moving into a new house that needs lots of work can really cut into your reading time. I'm down to maybe a book a month instead of several.

I haven't kept a record, because they are all impulse buys that get painlessly sucked out of my bank account without my having to even bother taking a credit card out of my purse. I also have taken advantage of a lot of sales and promo prices and free books. Not to mention libraries.

I would have to say the same. However, only a very few have been at agency pricing. I buy much more of my ebooks from FW, Smashwords and independent sites. It pretty much has to be reduced considerably, before I will even consider it. I do mostly freebies and PD and the library.

I read about 30 or so books via my nook. This included about 11 purchased books ranging in price from $0.99 to $9.99, and the rest being free books.

I never kept track of purchases before ebooks. I suspect I spent less. It's easier to hoard books when they aren't cluttering up your book cases.

I've been keeping track of my Amazon Kindle purchases since 2008 when I got my Kindle. I won't pay more than $9.99 for a book so after agency pricing, my spending went down. When I bought my Sony Pocket Reader to check out library books, my spending went down even further. The first 2 years I had my Kindle, I spent $1,000 on books. In 2010 I spent $700 and this year I only spent $233.

I've also kept track of my husband's Kindle purchases since he's on my account. He doesn't use the library, so his ebook purchases also went down by 20% when prices increased.

I spent about 100 dollars on books. I also downloaded a lot of freebies. This is a pretty normal number for me. I used the library less and the freebies took the place of the library.

I didn't keep track, but I'd be dishonest if I implied the answer was anything other than, "Yes, I did buy a lot of books in 2011". Not as many as I wanted to, and a lot of them were really good deals.

I did save a lot by purchasing ebooks. I purchased them at a third of their cost elsewhere (sometimes less) And most of them are currently on the best sellers list. I have plenty of books to read now 😃
