Nah, it doesn't work like that. Price should be competitive in particular market. Sony has problems in US, so they have lowered the price there.

$167, not $199, all prices in $ are VAT excluded and Most European countries VAT is 19.6%, so 149€ = 149 * 1.3374 / 1.196 = $167.

Yep and while the others stores Sony US Dell US etc wouldn't ship to Australia the reader today popped up on BHPhoto for $89.99 and they will ship to OZ total comes to $121.65 thats a $57 saving on our local prices. I am so tempted if I knew the flipping bug had been fixed I wouldn't even hesitate.

Thanks for the tip, soon as it is confirmed by users that this new FM fixes the bugs, I'll be getting it from BHPhoto and stuff the retailers over here.

Finnish sony store just raised it to 185€ with 23% VAT, free shipping. That is a huge price difference. Do Sony think we do not compare prices globally in the net? This is pretty unfair. It is just playing to Amazon. Many will buy kindle from uk because it's much cheaper and a decent ereader.

sonystyle.ca is now showing it at $119, but i don't know if the coupon is still valid. might be worth calling them to price-match for the folks that just bought it at $139. i called them and they said they will refund me the difference..

sheesh, it's like playing the stock market! but so worth it - with the $25 coupon and tax, that makes the total price $107.34! woohoo!

Couldn't resist from sonystyle.ca.
$119.99 - $25.00 coupon = $94.99 + $11.40 taxes = $106.39 Total (Includes shipping)

As tempting as it's sounds, especially as a customer in Canada, I have to sit on my hands during these pre-Christmas sales, and I am a little bit influenced by the reviews I see here on the sony.ca store. I'm almost decided on a Sony for my next reader due to the epub format and the ability to borrow wirelessly from my public library, but still haven't firmly made up my mind. My husband's co-worker has an older Sony and I was smitten from the outset, and so waiting a bit longer in my case even if I do wind up paying a bit more, has always served me well.

Me too! $110 was my trigger price. I can't imagine it will go lower than that.

I guess I just got a really nice customer service rep. Sorry they wouldn't help you too....
