The easiest return regardless that it is an e-reader? No contest. Best Buy is 5 minutes away and I have till January 24th. I can return it for any reason, even just saying I got tired of playing with this toy! |

I've received conflicting info regarding return of the Fire. One store told me it's considered a "tablet" and therefore the extended holiday return period doesn't apply. Lumped in with computers and the other stuff which only gets you a 14-day return period. Unless you are referring to Premier Silver membership.

The only issue though perhaps is if it is returned opened with a gift receipt, BB may only give store credit but I'm unsure of that. I bought the NC last year and I didn't have any trouble returning it opened to BB during the extended holiday period from what I remember with the original purchase receipt afterwards. Thanks for the heads-up though. I don't think it is going to matter for me personally because for $200 even though I have other tablets I feel I'm going to keep it. BTW, way is it "how many being returned to Amazon"? There are plenty of resources to buy this so is it relevant? Is it going to be tracked overall which I feel is most important than just returns to Amazon? |

Confirmed yesterday at BB that if you purchase a tablet, you get 14 days "after" XMAS to return it and it can be opened. No restocking fee and you don't need a gift receipt to do so for the return.

I read Amazon was giving away Fire tablets with their Fire phone to try and move the phone. The fact they were giving away the tablets suggests they at least have stock they are having trouble moving. Amazon is trying to enter and thrive in already saturated markets recently. I'm thinking tablets and phones. We know the phone attempt is a disaster. The tablet market is pretty glutted, too. They may have warehouses of the things collecting dust. Amazon does seem to be wrong-footing it a bit lately. |

This topic is based on an article from 2011, when the 1st gen Fire was released. It has absolutely no relevance to current products.
