I have several computers. Literally I have working computers that are just sitting around because "well, they work" and I might need them for something. Sometimes I have the opportunity to give them away, but usually I end up just buying the kids and even a relative or two a new one. That makes them happy, and so I am happy. Also I don't have to worry about the machine failing and that giving me a bad reputation about giving a gift that wasn't any good. I had a son that passed by on a trip and asked to borrow my big shop vac. He was a little strapped at the time trying to fix up a new place for himself and his wife and was doing some wood work, sanding, painting, etc.. I just gave him the money to get a new one so it wouldn't overload the little car he and his new wife had already overloaded. Also he wouldn't have to return it. "Hey Merry Christmas." I have only one (1) eReader. The Kindle 3-3G,WiFi. I will never buy a eReader without 3G. I hope Amazon impresses me with a good (limited) 3G tablet, but if it doesn't I will look to Nook. I want a free 3G (limited) system like Kindle has now, even if it is limited on what it can download. I will even get another Kindle gray scale, if it has a the infrared touch screen and limited 3G. I would actually like it to be a little smaller in width so it would fit in a pocket easier. A built in way to light the screen would be good too. I would design it with a separate replaceable rechargeable battery, say a 3A or even 2A to run the light, but it would be separate from the main battery. When I go to the woods, or on the lakes or waterways, I will carry a phone and my eReader. I don't risk my notebook in that environment. If I really go "way out of reach" I will have my Spot (Satellite) and my eReader even if 3G doesn't work. I remember when I was in the service. We would pack paperback books and trade them around. They were actually pretty bulky if you had several and over time would get wet and even moldy. I think the guys must be doing better these days with eReaders. |

And I think Stonetools, and again ST correct me if I'm wrong, games on the iPad like Angry birds, cut the rope, and more fun games that arent' as graphics intense are extremely popular on the iPad and if that's the case Stonetools is correct. |

Console manufacturers sell the hardware at a loss... initially. That's because they spend so much on R&D that making a profit would mean pricing the device out of the reach of most of their demographic. Even when the PS3 was launched, it retailed for about $600, which was pretty steep. And even that, apparently, was a loss making price. It now retails for $250. As the manufacturers achieve economies of scale, their production costs per unit decrease quite substantially. And once the sales of the devices reaches a certain point, the accounts are back in the black. I'm pretty sure both Sony and Microsoft have long since crossed that point. |

You do realize that consoles are using technology that is 5 to 6 years out of date? Consequentially their costs for parts and material is lower than if they were using new technology.

I don't see a market for a 10 inches devices unless is a really good tablet with a strong app market, light, thin and with a nice price.
In terms of a NC 2 or second generation, hope they redesign the hardware and made it less heavy. |

Most of the weight of a tablet is from the screen. They could reduce the weight by not using gorilla glass, but then it would be a lot more prone to getting scratches.
