I don't even bother with a TBR list. I've got a decent memory for remembering which e-books I actually paid for (since generally most freebies don't really fall into my preferred reading categories) and whether or not I've previously read them if they're the paid type.
I prioritize my reading by whatever I'm most interested in at the moment which happens to be available to me, and sometimes reading "sample" books by a new-to-me author to see if I want to buy any more when there's a sale. Also library books get pushed to the top of the list, at least as far as paper copies that are due soon go. I do keep two special collection tags on my Kindle, for Paid Purchases and Read In Full, mostly so I have all my bought stuff easily grouped for access and don't start re-reading unmemorable freebies I've finished. |

I love Goodreads for keeping track of books I've read and books to be read. It also lets me make review notes on books for future reference and track books my friends are reading which they like or didn't like. I also use LibraryThing for tracking books in the same manner. LT is a bit more sophisticated in their listings, having been started by professional librarians and proofreaders, so there are a lot of 'underground' titles floating around there that are worth a look when I get bored with pop-authors.

I put books I want to read on my Kindle. Once I've read a book I'll delete it from the Kindle and add the book to Goodreads with the date I finished it.

Call me geeky if you will but my lists are in multiple places. TBR is usually in notes app on iphone, an index card in my kindle case, and goodreads. Finished books have finished date noted on index card, goodreads, and I keep a moleskine notebook for tracking books and music that I come across, usually with a small note to share with someone if a certain person crosses my mind as I read the book.

I don't maintain a TBR list. When I buy new books I simply browse through the websites and buy what seems the most interesting. And if a book is unavailable in my region or is too expensive, I just forget about it, or wait until it becomes available. Though I do have a few Smashwords titles that I got for free in sales and have yet to read.
I also maintain a wish list in Smashwords though. |

I have some 400+ books in my reader, all TBR. When I finish one I delete it immediately, having a copy in my computer's Calibre library.
I also maintain a 'to be found' list in a simple text file, gathered from various 'what are you reading' threads or 'recommend a good (genre) book' here in MobileRead. You folks have opened my eyes to some really wonderful authors over the past two years. After I find the book and put it into my reader, it gets removed from my TBF file. Stitchawl |

I keep my unread books on my Kobo "shortlist". I track books I intend to purchase or have already bought on a google documents spreadsheet with data entry through a form. I have created a "public" version of the collection form in case anyone wants to look at it.
I don't use all the fields, all the time, but since I comparison shop before i plunk down my money, I often use most of them ![]() Last edited by taming; 09-03-2011 at 09:40 AM. |

I've started using Goodreads for this. It maintains the list, and allows me to rate and review once read. The idea of creating a custom column in Calibre is a pretty good one, though. I may start doing that as well.
