I don't spend more time reading. But since a have an e-reader, it's more reading, and less re-reading.

I've found myself reading more because it's too darn easy to buy them! I'll head to amazon to get a new one and end up clicking "Buy now with 1-click" to 4 or 5 more before I'm done. It's much easier to find new books with great reviews for my kindle than to go to the bookstore and scour shelves.

I'm reading at the same rate, but acquiring at a much higher rate.
I say "acquiring" instead of "buying" because a lot of my books are freebies from Amazon, B&N, etc., but I AM buying a lot more, too. My indie purchases have gone from maybe 5% of my total yearly purchases to 60% of my yearly purchases. Indie authors take note. ![]() |

i find i'm reading more, but i am in love with my device. the build quality, design, features. the cover's great, too.
i think that i've reached a "zen" ![]() so the love of the mode of reading helps me to read more. it also helps me acquire books i want to read more quickly. these are the reasons i read more now than before i got into ereading. it's not only that, but i've also learned to enjoy myself. |

After I got my PRS-505, I proceeded to systematically devour Baen's Free Library, and ended up buying a lot of books from them as well. I'm a fast reader to begin with, but having such a massive availability of free and then inexpensive, DRM-free ebooks started a pretty serious reading binge.
I've relaxed a little bit since, but I definitely still read more than I did before I got it! |

I read more now because my wife reads more now, because of her e-reader.

i'm DEFINITELY reading more. i keep Kimy, my kindle, in my tote which goes with me almost everywhere. i'm surprised at home much "free" time i find to read a quick page or two. i've always been an avid reader (well, except for college - i read, but not for fun!), but read so much more now!

Yes! Twice more. Because I can "carry" many books in my purse.

I'm reading a lot more. Physical books became a bit cumbersome to bring around and read in bed, etc., and now I just bring my Nook everywhere to sneak in readings.
One of my dilemmas used to be whether I should bring a book that I have about 30 pages left till finish on a long train journey, or to bring a new one. Now I can just finish reading and start without extra loads. |

I would say I have read 8-10 times as many books in the 1st year that I had my Sony, as the year before I purchased it.
It has changed nearly everything about 'books' for me. Where I read them, how I buy them, where I store them, who I share them with. Recording what I am reading (on my Calibre program, Goodreads, Facebook, and the Reading Challenge here on MR) is also pushing me to get through more than I would normally. Nothing like a little 'self-competition' to put out some big numbers. |

The advent of the e-reader makes for a much more convenient method of reading books. No more will I have to cart around a suitcase full of books to take on holiday.
![]() I've been downloading a lot of Gutenbergs free books and converting them for various devices with Calibre. My Ipaq rx1950 pocket pc has mobipocket reader installed, and works very well. The PSP doesn't get much of a mention, but I've got a program that converts book text files into jpeg pages that can be read on this humble device using left/right navigation buttons to flick through. Been experimenting with converting ebooks to audio with TTS program. The inflection suffers somewhat but how nice it is just to have an mp3 player hanging round your neck and have the books read to you. ![]() |
