I have to admit it was a slight hyperbole. But while the amazon interface is better than most and it works fine for finding something when you approximately know what you are looking for it fails (for me) in browsing experience, for running into stuff that I only vaguely remember existed.

Gollancz won't be selling the books themselves, they'll be selling through "the usual retail channels."

If you search for Gollancz in the Kindle store and sort the hits by pub date, you'll find over 100 titles scheduled for Sept 29. Lots of Mack Reynolds, L. Sprague de Camp, Bob Shaw and more. Some nice Fredric Brown and Barry Malzberg. Gonna be an expensive day, Sept 29...

And the prices all seem to be either £2.99 or £4.99, which I think is entirely reasonable.

If I can pick up some of the Bob Shaws I've not read, I'll be a happy bunny.

Yes, indeed. Bob Shaw was a good personal friend of mine. I have pretty much all his books in printed form, but it'll be good to get them as eBooks, too.

I just spotted the list a few minutes ago and came here to see if anyone else had noticed Some fantastic stuff (And this is just a fraction of the titles they plan for launch if their figures are right).

Chalk me up as another one who went squee when I saw Bob Shaw titles

Oooo

http://www.teleread.com/paul-biba/e-...-ebook-titles/

E-Reads has signed a deal with UK publisher Gollancz to publish e-book editions in the UK and Commonwealth of almost 400 science fiction and fantasy titles as part of Gollancz’s Gateway initiative.

Orion deputy CEO and publisher Malcolm Edwards and Gollancz digital publisher Darren Nash negotiated the deal, which includes works by more than 50 authors, with E-Reads founder and president Richard Curtis and agent Danny Baror of Baror International. Titles by authors such as Greg Bear, Harlan Ellison, James Gunn, Fritz Leiber and George Zebrowski will be published in Gateway editions in 2011.

Try this at Amazon.co.uk (look for the yellow ones):

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...&sort=daterank

or this at Waterstones:

http://www.waterstones.com/waterston...ultsPerPage=10

And all at either £5 or £3. Nice! At those prices I don't mind (as much) re-buying stuff I already own on paper.
