The only reason you don't get the WSOD with 1.6 is because it isn't pushing the video chip quite as hard. If you run an app that requires a lot of video output you could still get the WSOD with 1.6 on your hardware. |

Still, good to know it's working. And running 1.6 you will probably get a longer life out of the poor thing!

Last night i tried 2.2 few times, upgraded from 1.6 to try how it works. First boot worked fine, but after the display wet sleeping and i woke it up, there was WSOD again ![]() The new kernel and new display driver in 2.2 is handling the LCD initiliaztion wrong, sometimes when it wokes up you can see the timing is off, like it was almost fully WSOD but you can see fuzzy text, then it suddenly survives and everything is normal. |

I have a different issue with my PE. The reader side won't go past "Initializing" and after boot up, my lcd screen constantly shows messages saying that different apps, particularly "set up" or "system setup"? are being force closed. I can shut it off and restart, same thing still happens. It's on 2.2, and was rooted a few days ago. Any suggestions?

Then you can update to Ermine only this time DON'T root it unless you have a VERY pressing need to do so - Ermine is beta software afterall. |

That's exactly what I did, thank you for your response. Downloaded the zip file from another part of the forums (credit Mark Rehorst? Sp?) which also included easy instructions for how to do it. Went back to Dingo with the Golden Update, didn't like it as much, reinstalled Ermine, which is much better. I will take yours and others advice and not root my PE anymore, I was just trying to get Market to work, and I have an Android phone with access so it's easy to transfer apps from my phone to my PE.
I think another issue was I was trying to do too much with it. I was loading up a ton of apps, trying to get Market and Flash working, and maybe that contributed. I noticed since I fixed the issue and went back to Ermine it works much better and faster. I'm limiting the app installations, being content with not having flash capability (So many mobile and YouTube based video access that it's pretty minor), and just enjoying my PE for what it is: a fun toy to play with with a lot of practical applications. I've been reading the forums, and it's obvious that most people posting here really love their PEs. I hope that the company can come back or someone can pick this up and start it again, it's a great idea for a tablet. |

PE sales at Woot
add to that the 4840+ units sold at $79. last week and you get $382,360.
Which looks like a cool $1,008,472.+, I wonder what they paid for them.... |

So glad you're back up and running mjc1.
I've never understood this almost obsession with getting android market to work. 90%, or more, of the useful apps are available from other places - you just have to look for them. The EE and PE were designed as working tools for teachers and students in higher education - at least that was how they were marketed. A noble aim which lead to the demise of the company, maybe if they had taken the general availability route like woot there would still be a company running today. |

I like Market because it's so convenient. You're correct, I can find most of the apps in other places, but a lot of times I get referred back to downloading them from Market. I have a Droid Incredible phone, so I just download what I need from Market, back them up using Astro, and either email them to myself (individually) or transfer them through wireless phone-pc-PE.
There's two things I would love to have, and it would make having the PE a perfect experience: Flash Video capability (not happening) and 3G connection. It's a great little tablet, so close to being perfect. Quote:
