But you made the point, now I understood what you mean as poor rendering. |

I was just pointing out some of the letters that are obviously noticeable. It would have been silly to point out all the letters that have thin strokes.
I'm guessing that the fonts used in the font menu were chosen because they render well enough. But I chose to look at Charis as that is the most commonly used embedded font by publishers. Most of the Star Wars eBooks are using Charis and if it's not going to render well, it's not going to be all that good a reading experience. Sure you can change the font, but you also have to change the margins and maybe the line spacing. You cannot just change just the font without changing other setting you may not want to change. |

The 950 looks terrible! Look at all those artifacts around the words. And it can't even do right justification. Definitely a show stopper.

Look at the lines that end with "way" and "was" (for the 950 capture), they are clearly not right aligned.
And there are all kinds of compression artifacts in the capture for 950. Are you blind? Are you sure your wearing your glasses? |

That is how ADE does it so lines that have a very small overhang like that don't end up with large gaps between words. It's not just t950 that does it. Desktop ADE does it as well. The compression artifacts are the screen grab, not the 950. The screen grab is done with PRS+ which is not from Sony. So out of the box, the 950 does not do any screen grabs.

I can't believe people are complaining about this. I was expecting to see horrible looking text. I can hardly notice anything and I have better than perfect vision.

It's not bad, it is just that it could be better, particularly with smaller text sizes. As I said earlier in this thread, if you press the 'n' (nook) key twice, the text that redraws at the bottom line or two of the page is noticeably sharper than the text on the rest of the page. If they could achieve that level of sharpness consistently it would be nice to have.
