I thought the whole point about the Wacom tablet technology is that it was an "absolute position", and hence didn't need calibration. It seems absolutely "spot on" on my iLiad. Why is calibration required?

The iLiad implementation of the Wacom screen doesn't take tilt into account, for one thing. That can have a pretty significant effect on calibration. I'm not sure what the other factors are, but apparently different units have had varying degrees of calibration issues. Mine is pretty good, but I do notice a bit of an offset.

And dont forget, that during the manufacturing, the display pane and the wacom pane need to be aligned, and this alignement can be a bit off.

Did the brainiacs over at iRex install or a suspend function on the new version? Now that would be real nice! How about startup times?

No, no changes to suspend or startup times. This isn't really a new version, just the case and battery have changed, as far as we can tell.

Problem is, unless Irex have been secretly designing a 10" in parallel with this '2nd edition', it'll probably a year or so away from production. Maybe their new staff will help speed that up, but then again, it might not even be on their agenda.
What I was meaning was taking the screen being used for the V9 in Vizplex and adapting it to work with the iLiad for a new iLiad version since the resolution is higher.

Oh well I will find out.
I hope you will announce when one of us gets the first mail from Irex on replace batteries.
Second that! Whenever I click a link like that without getting a confirmation... and soon my one year warranty is out I think.

Karel, is it possible to check whether the battery replacement option was registered? Or do you know definitely when you will be shipping out new batteries?

If it's not the new one then you could always look if you can send it back on the 'not satisfied" argument ...

So far so good, no chinese support yet. But can read chinese books in pdf with no problem. I want the calibration function though

Dont worry, 2.11 cant be too far off. I am surprised, that the new iLiads were delivered with 2.10.2. Maybe someone found a bug, which stopped the release.

But the grey scale levels would be smaller (16 vs 4)
