The term is iPod Touch, not iTouch. There is no official name of iTouch for the iPod Touch. iTouch just reads as too lazy to type iPod Touch.

Actually, wait until June to find out if you do want an iPad or an iPod Touch as the Kindle app may no longer exists for iOS and in that case, then a good Android tablet may do since the Kindle app will exists there.

As for lights, I find the 650's light cover to be excellent and it does not use the battery from the 650 to power it.

There is no single source these are suspicions due to Apple's changes in Store Rules... Sony Reader App has already not been admitted...
The new rules require any app that offers paid content outside of it to offer the same as In App purchases (with 30% Apple cut)... Three possible scenarios: 1.) Amazon stops selling stuff via their apps on iOS altogether, offering the Kindle App as a service only for reading books on iOS (they can always make people aware of the fact that they can still surf to the Kindle store themselves) (I don't know if the rules could still be interpreted in a way that this would actually count as "selling content outside of the app" in the way Apple sees it, I think they would be stupid because they would simply lose buyers of their devices looking for a Kindle companion directly to Amazon's new tablet) 2.) They supplement their "To the Kindle Store" button with a "To the In App Store" button. (very unlikely I suppose, they are just not dependent enough on Apple's system) 3.) They remove their iOS App and point out that they have their own tablet now... (likely but not without the danger of infuriating a not very small number of customers) I'm pretty sure I would move away from iOS if there was no more Kindle app... I use my iPad for reading only these days (PDFs and Kindle books) and occasional films on the plane or bus (although I have spent some money on Apps already, most of which I never use anymore), nothing in particular that any other tablet couldn't do as well (Amazon's?)... Only thing I will miss is my Moleskine cover (which wouldn't work for other iPads anyway)... |

![]() I'm leaning more towards an iPod Touch-sized device at the moment since I already have a laptop that I can use for reading PDFs, and I like the idea of having something that fits in my pocket. Is the Samsung Galaxy Player the main non-phone, pocket-sized option out there for Android? |

If something is going to happen, I would say is Kindle for iOs working as an ereader only, lacking the button/option to sell books. Not impossible, but really difficult that Amazon will pull Kindle app. altogether, it will be a bad move for both companies. Amazon understands the existence of iPads and their users. While there might have been some slight noises with the Sony Reader and Rhapsody apps, that's nothing compared to the amount of coverage pulling the Kindle app (along with Barnes and Noble, Kobo, etc) from the App Store will generate. I sincerely hope Apple faces antitrust lawsuits if ever that happens. |
