Firstly you can browse the calibre library with "good old file browser," secondly yes, it does organise its library to suit itself... that's what all databases do and thirdly, if you don't like calibre's layout then you can always save to disk in your own arrangement... that's what I do... treat calibre library as backup of everything and save to a working masterset organised precisely how I want...
Congrats calibre... and thanks to Kovid... Quote:

Congratulations, Kovid, you build a really useful program and I'm glad to see it get some of the recognition it deserves. I love the way it lets me organize my books and organize the way I think about them. The tags make choosing the next books almost as much fun as reading them.

I hear you on this one, and if you're not happy with the Author/Title sort described above, then yeah, I guess Calibre isn't for you. And I fully understand that, I hate how my iPod won't let me browse by directory either, which is why I installed Rockbox on it, which allows for both database browsing like an iPod, as well as directory structure browsing. |

When browsing folder you not seeing anything other then what os provides is an os feature and not that of any application you might use to manage your books/files. The tags are actually pretty neat, you don't have to reuse the existing ones, you can define your own. That's what I do for omnibuses. |

yep. where would most of us be without Calibre?
My question is: why isn't there more coverage? In my mind, it's front and center in the ereader experience. Congrats Kovid et al. |

Calibre makes all ebook tasks super simple and fast. I'd hate to go without it. Congrats.

The orizon will read metadata to display title name and author, but will still use folders. Quote:
For the rest, I live very well without calibre. Well, importing my books in the software I'm making, made me realise I didn't have that many book. |
