Unlike old Mobipocket PC which was a repository and synch for both DRM books and your own content, Amazon has divided this into Kindle PC for Amazon DRM content and Calibre for others, mostly non-DRM books. Not an elegant solution. |

Personally I think that ePub is overrated. I have a Sony reader and a kindle and I prefer mobi. I've never wanted to read an ebook from the lbrary but I suppose I could if I wanted to. The only thing I'm missing out on by not being able to read epubs on my kindle is over-priced and limited content. I also avoid having to use ADE.

edit on topic. I don't care if the kindle supports epub at all, but they really need to update their mobi format to use decent css. There are really no options to make a nicely formatted mobi. 1em indent is almost too small 2em is way too big. No drop caps or nice styles and a ton of other small things that make a huge difference. Last edited by Valentino; 04-09-2011 at 01:50 AM. |

only if used well. I have read several of those free books from smashwords. Some of them very good, but the formatting horrible in epub.

My experience getting books from sources other than Amazon has been totally painless. Here is a list of my sources for ebooks thus far: ![]() I don't list Amazon as I just have my Amazon books sent directly to my K3. I need to make a folder for my Amazon books, d/l them and strip DRM from them for safekeeping. There are sources I haven't even tapped yet, and I currently have enough ebooks stashed on my K3 to last me a loooong time. Either I'm not picky about margins or I've not experienced any problems yet. I'm happy with all my conversions thus far. |

I am glad for you. I also haven't encountered a problem that I couldn't fix but I just don't like to spend my time fixing problems. I can imagine that you have less problems because you don't have to deal with texts in other languages, Latvian and Russian in my case.

You (people using the word troll incorrectly) are using the word troll incorrectly.
The meaning of troll is someone in an online chat (i.e., IRC) trolling for online sex. Hence calling the person a troll. It has nothing to do with disrupting a forum. |

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3] In addition to the offending poster, the noun troll can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in "that was an excellent troll you posted". While the term troll and its associated action trolling are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with trolling being used to describe intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context. For example, recent media accounts have used the term troll to describe "a person who defaces internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families. I can think of several regular posters here who meet that definition.... |

All I want to know is can I get an ePint or and eWhisky in an ePub? How about some bangers and mash? Bubble and squeak? Can I get a rousing chorus of "Innocent When You Dream" going in an ePub?
