Hard to guess, but I'd think its books. A well bound book with super paper quality (not sure there are many paper mils left to provide this) lasts easily 150 - 200 yrs without fixing. Have one lying next to me that was made in 1911 and looks brand new (though being leather bound, smythe-sewn and printed on non yellowing slightly thicker bible paper helps). A reader will be junk in about 4 or 5 yrs...

I buy a book in whatever format is available. Hardcovers for the books I LOVE and want to own, hold, show off, paperbacks (usually used) if they are cheaper than ebooks (sometimes costing just a few bucks, vs $12.99 for a Kindle/Nook/Kobo/iBook version!) - I'm no snob. Just cheap!

You are not the only cheap one aroudn here. I have a family at home and I have learned that every dollar I spend on myself is a dollar that I can't spend on them and i would much rather spend the dollar on them not me, so I tend to be very cheap with reguards to my own expenses. I never buy a hardback, too expensive. I also have a price limit of $9 for all paperbacks, that eliminates Goodkind, Grisham and the entire NY Times Best sellers.

It hardly matters if you read from an ebook reader, a hardcover. leatherbound, a paperback etc. The content is same.

I still read a TON of real (paper) books and also love my Kindle. A lot of the stuff I want either isn't in eBook format or is expensive. I can still find great books for $1-3 or so used, saving a lot off the eBook price. And I buy plenty of art books and the like that don't do well on eBook. The paper book will never go out of the style for me, but the Kindle allows me a lot more shelf space to fill with them thanks to all the free public domain classics that I previously owned in paper.

My digital purchases have not slowed down my consumption of physical books one bit! I buy books in whatever way seems the most convenient/fun/interesting/simple/complex/whateverish at the given moment.

I dont feel convenient to refer to the maps in ebooks (I am not sure if other people do that ) which is now a trademark of all fantasy books.

No I don't, my paper books that were in good enough condition I gave away, others I just threw away. I can't imagine reading a paper book now.

Considering the fact that I'm undecided on which device to buy... I do read the hard versions. Maybe that might change once I do buy an e-reader.

Tough Guide to Fantasyland by Diana Wynne Jones. A very good book and all her fantasy books can be recommended also.

![]() http://www.bookcrossing.com/mybookshelf/rutchmather At my age I've spent too many years building a library (small, but 'me') and many of the things I look at are not available in ebook format: Photographer's monographs etc. I'm always delighted when any of my favorite books (defined as ones I re-read) becomes available as an ebook. |
