For me is a magazine with the pictures of the players participating in the 1974 Football World Cup. It was a gift from my uncle.

Of course, there is one of my baby shoes bathed in bronze. But the shoe is not in my possession, it's in my parent's house. Maybe someday I will inherit it

We even didn't have showers and we had to walk to the sportshall for 15 min. and we had a teacher who had a little notebook for us girls.
When we said: no we can't do gymnastics.....it is this time of the month ......he would look in his little notebook: no, no, no, it's not your time of the month....you go and get your sport-things on.

So, if you were a bit irregular, you had a problem?

I managed to get out of my gymnastics (I don't mind sports so much, but hate gymnastics) due to an accident. Some idiot hit me from behind, me on my bike, he on his motorbike (officially a 50CC, but he had increased its power). I was dragged on the street for a few meters (don't recall exactly what happend). I was mostly alright, except for my knee. Took me at least 6 months before I could even put weight on it again! And by that time, winter had started and we had only fun sports again (mostly free choice, as long as we were doing something active). So, no disc throwing, spear throwing, hoops...

Lucky you! Well, not really, because you had an accident

Our sports teacher always made us do the most boring and stupid things. She and the guy who 'taught' the boys would make us do something like 'journey around the world' or play badminton and then they would just chat with each other during the entire lesson. We never got to choose what we would like to do. And then during examens, we had to run 30 minutes. I guess no one ever told her you can't do that if you've been playing badminton half-heartedly all year long

Oh man, I still hate her.

All this talk about evil sports teachers reminds me of our high school athletics teacher, evil little man with a sadistic streak. He invented "Murder Ball" this involved getting the rugby ball and trying to live long enough to make the end zone, everyone else with out the ball were the tacklers. Fun game till someone tore their ligaments, there were multiple injuries, ahh the happy memories.

A black student's desk. It used to be my eldest sisters. I used it for my school work growing up and I've taken it every time I moved. Now I keep my TV on it in the living room. I can't recall if my sister bought it or if someone gave it to her, but I think it's from the 50's. I've refinished it several times but now it's due for a good sanding, painting and, perhaps, I tiny bit of antiquing to give more contrast with the HDTV on top.

In high school we had "Barnyard Basketball" - a combination of basketball and tackle football. If you got the ball, you held onto it and ran to the basket as fast as you could. Lots of injuries.

I have stuffed chicken doll-thing from when I was really young, some 45 years ago. I also have a Christmas cactus I started back in 1971. It's still alive and blooming, though not in the best shape since the dog stuck her nose into the pot and rooted around.
